Fine for you to eat processed food as a vegan / vegetarian, but poor when the only vegan option is fake meat in a restaurant.

There are so many amazing ways to cook vegan food (including using chick peas and lentils) but some chefs don’t bother.

Adults who don’t drink tea or coffee are childish

if I offer a person over the age of 18 a drink and they ask for squash, then hell yes I’m judging them

(signed, a vegetarian who would just be a meat eater if she wanted to eat meat or meat-adjacent products, and now finds all restaurant menus just have fake meat versions of their meaty food instead of a proper vegetarian option).

After passing the driving test, everyone should take a retest every year for the next 5 years. Hands off the super careful, experienced older drivers who have fewer accidents than boy racers....

@Snippysocks Agreed. Or at least some required learning. I actually quite enjoyed the Driver Awareness Course I had to do when I was caught speeding and felt I'd learned something useful as as stuff is changing on the highways all the time. I'd be up for doing that again every five or maybe ten years.

Takeaway fish and chips is over-rated.

Heavy, greasy and very over-priced.

Same with a lot of takeaway pizza - the sort that leaves big grease stains soaking through the bottom of the box. 😝

I used to force myself to drink tea all the time for this reason and only started liking it over Covid (taste buds changed).

Ciabatta isn’t far behind IMO. Hard crust and full of holes !!

Grown adults who enjoy TV talent shows or who find ant and Dec funny are absolute weirdos.

If you’re ever in Hoylake, or Parkgate - both in Wirral, they both have fish and chip shops that will change your mind, I promise. In Hoylake it’s called ‘Marigolds’ and they serve fresh huge haddock in the lightest of beer batters, and their chips are chunky, soft on the inside and crispy outside. The other, in Parkgate is just called Parkgate fish and chips. Beautiful whole plaice and the best mushy peas - with the added bonus of being across the road from the marshes and bird sanctuary, so a lovely view while you’re eating.

People should be made to pass a test / get a licence to have kids.

And the ones that do have veggie options are boring and lazy - watery vegetable based pastas mostly, and the predictable filled baked potatoes. I opted for something described as ‘mixed bean casserole’ once. It was basically brown sludge with onions !!

A long time since I’ve been in a Chinese restaurant but if I remember correctly, the only decent pud option - ice cream, was also crap. One tiny scoop of boring vanilla in a stainless steel dish. And what’s with Lychees ? They taste of nothing and the texture makes me think of those bugs they eat in Australia !!

Me too for 99.9% of them. But I still remember a lovely afternoon tea I had years ago at one of the mandarin oriental hotels which was well balanced sweet and savoury and utterly delicious. I still fondly remember the mini smoked salmon tartlets. 🌹

Or heat through some crushed garlic and chopped parsley in the butter til it foams, and then toss the potatoes in it. Wow. Hungry now !!
