Would love to hear how everyone does it. This would be with cow's semi skimmed milk. Willing to try coconut milk I guess. TIA

DH makes it with grated apple, lemon juice and sliced banana, natural yoghurt and small amount of honey. No added sugar.

Assuming you are avoiding bananas...

Berries with cream cheese & nuts
Parma ham & melon
Blue cheese, Pears & walnuts
Wouldn't be for me, but what about fish options?

100g of greek yoghurt, 2 heaped tablespoon of oatbran, half a cup of milk and a teaspoon if vanilla extract.

Ah so what a want is chia pudding, not overnight oats!! Gotcha!
I do eat eggs every morning, but once or twice a week it would be nice to have something different, so that I can then have eggs for dinner. Very high protein seems to be working well for me to lose weight without feeling awful hunger.

Grin at overnight oats with no oats, yogurt or other things usually included in overnight oats.

Or you could just have eggs for breakfast and dinner if you want to. There's no reason not to, apart from them being hard to get hold of, of course.

carbs are not 'the devil' as some make them out to be
wholemeal, rough cut oats or oat bran or oat germ are fine.

BIWI · 17/04/2023 11:32

@greenacrylicpaint

wholemeal, rough cut oats or oat bran or oat germ are fine

But not if you're trying to low carb!

(And yes, not all carbs are the devil, but some have a devilish impact on blood sugars and, ultimately, weight - as well as a whole host of other issues)

Hubblebubble · 17/04/2023 14:25

If it's calories in and calories out what does it matter? And slow energy release carbs like oats, bananas and sweet potatoes can hardly be popped in the same category as a croissant or slice of white bread.

You can’t

Try Greek yoghurt with protein powder - high protein, low carb and way more filling than it sounds.

Protein powder isn’t great though, it’s UPF.

GBoucher · 17/04/2023 14:31

You can't. Oats are almost 100% carb. It's like asking how to make low carb mashed potatoes.

SingaporeSting · 17/04/2023 14:35

I think you want a smoothie instead.

100-150ml milk (depending on how thick/runny you want it)
70-80g frozen berries (or fresh + ice)
150g skyr
30g protein powder
1 tsp honey or maple syrup

not carb free, but low-ish. And quite high protein thanks to the powder and skyr

Skybluepinky · 17/04/2023 15:28

U can’t Oats are carbs.

toastofthetown · 17/04/2023 15:30

Personally, chia pudding is the most revolting food I’ve eaten in the last five years. The texture is very different to overnight oats.

Shannith · 17/04/2023 15:32

@bellac11 "overnight Tupperware" Grin

VincentVaguer · 17/04/2023 15:35

I make oats with unsweetened almond milk and have it with a blob of peanut butter and a few blueberries

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 17/04/2023 15:49

Oats are very high carb. Like PP said, chia would be the way to go.
