Would love to hear how everyone does it. This would be with cow's semi skimmed milk. Willing to try coconut milk I guess. TIA

You can do a really nice low carb overnight oats by replacing the oats with scrambled eggs then, instead of yoghurt, two rashers of bacon.

And up the protein with a sausage!

UrsulaBelle · 16/04/2023 18:35

Yeah… overnight oats with no oats or yogurt? 🤷🏼‍♀️ That’s not overnight oats.

You could try a chia bowl instead - like this one https://www.thebodycoach.com/blog/chocolate-and-raspberry-chia-bowl/

Maple syrup and chocolate spread?

If you're going to eat some carbs at least make them the starchy kind, like oats. Whats the point of offering a recipe with no oats to remove the carbs and replacing them with pure sugar.

What you're looking for a chia pudding now overnight oats.

Yes, definitely no oats! I've heard of using chia seeds. Would prefer no Greek yogurt, or any yogurt really.

Why no oats? You need SOME carbs to fuel your day...

greenacrylicpaint · 16/04/2023 20:52

dunno about low carb, but I have oat germs, chia seeds and linseeds and dried fruit in my overnight oats.

BluebellBlueballs · 16/04/2023 21:01

You can use half oats half almond flour to make them lower carb, but there'll still be half as many cards

I'd use a sugar free nut milk

PamelaDawes · 16/04/2023 21:07

I use barely flakes instead of oats. Barley flakes give me a smaller gluscose spike. Still carbs, but better for me.

I leaned this doing the Zoe study and wearing a CGM.

EdwinaBatman · 16/04/2023 21:08

Milk is high carb

SummerWillow · 16/04/2023 21:09

28g oats
1 dsp dessicated coconut (if needed)
1 dsp chopped hazelnuts
1 dsp pumpkin seeds
Cinnamon
Few sprays of cooking oil

Mix. Toast at 140 fan for 15-20 mins or until lightly golden.

Serve with low fat crème fraîche and berries.

SummerWillow · 16/04/2023 21:11

This is obviously not the low carb option 😉 but recommended for slow energy release. Keeps me full till lunch.

mindutopia · 16/04/2023 21:15

Why not make something more tasty than fake ‘overnight oats’?

There are loads of recipes for breakfast casseroles or I used to have an amazing one for savoury ‘muffins’ with ground almonds, cheese and sausage meat.

Have a look on Pinterest for paleo or Leto breakfast ideas.

Leave out the oats?

Have an egg instead.

ferntwist · 16/04/2023 21:30

Almond flour (ground almonds) makes a great low carb substitute for half your oats. 20g of oats and 20g almond flour, plus sweetener and some nuts and seeds is a good start. Oats are excellent for filling you up, lowering cholesterol and increasing fibre so don’t leave them out altogether. The zero carb diets never work in the long term as they’re not sustainable (and often very high in saturated fat).

ginlovingqueen · 16/04/2023 21:31

You don't need to be scared of carbs or
Fat

Oats, greek
Yoghurt and some
Fruit is a great breakfast

Partyandbullshit · 16/04/2023 21:34

You want overnight oats without oats?

why don’t you just eat scrambled eggs? Avocado and tomatoes and smoked salmon? Spinach / mango / almond milk smoothie?

What do you actually want? Or did you just splurge out a half baked question onto the internet?

ShirleyPhallus · 16/04/2023 21:35

MN is so weird sometimes

InspiredToBoot · 16/04/2023 22:15

Ah so what a want is chia pudding, not overnight oats!! Gotcha!
I do eat eggs every morning, but once or twice a week it would be nice to have something different, so that I can then have eggs for dinner. Very high protein seems to be working well for me to lose weight without feeling awful hunger.

My favourite breakfast is a protein smoothie - protein powder, water or milk or almond milk, spinach, then any fruit. Blended with ice. Delicious.

FusionChefGeoff · 16/04/2023 22:50

Chia pudding is too much like frogspawn for me!

You've said no yoghurt which is my go to - but I also like topping with flakes almonds and flakes coconut as well as mixed seeds and chopped nuts so if you add all that to the chia it may move away from frogspawn texture..

FusionChefGeoff · 16/04/2023 22:51

Oh and unsweetened soy milk is much much lower carb than normal milk if you can use that instead??
