Radi06music · 11/04/2023 20:14

Any recommendations for things to do in Brighton for a weekend on my own? I like art and nice food and I want to go and see all the little independent shops in the North Laine area, just wondered if anyone knew any good things to do or places to eat? Im staying in Hove

Any locals or people who've visited recently?

Depends when you are going but if it's May, the open houses trail is wonderful

You won't be short of nice places to eat. It's fab.

The Chilli Pickle is great for food. Also check out if Komedia has anything on while you are there. Brighton is great for just wandering around plus lots of great places to have a drink!

Eat at Fourth and Church or Plateau for great wine and small plates.

There are so many lovely places to eat in Brighton now. Do you like seafood or meat? Or there's a great vegan restaurant!

magicscares · 11/04/2023 21:04

If you like the countryside then a visit to devils dyke.
oeuf cafe for lunch (needs to be booked ahead)
Emmaus in portslade if you enjoy charity shops! It’s huge.
in hove- Ola’s bar for cocktails.
in Brighton- twisted lemon for cocktails
the zip wire on the beach (near the west pier) is fun
enjoy 😊

There is also a new food hall on the seafront called Shelter Hall which looks pretty good. Terre a Terre is a really good veggie restaurant.

Radi06music · 11/04/2023 21:13

any nice cafes maybe something a bit different, where I can sit for a couple of hours?

If you’re vegetarian Food for Friends is highly recommended by my Brighton vegetarian mates 😀 (you probably need to book)

I like Bond St Coffee - amazing cinnamon buns - or Trading Post in the Lanes if you get there early enough, as it can get busy.

...and this lace does great coffee and cake:

Mowgli … Indian tapas. My DD is vegetarian and loves it.

There's millions of cafes. One thing Brighton is not short of is cafes. When are you visiting OP? Brighton Festival is on for the whole of May, loads going on. Check the website for listings. There's always something happening on the seafront in the summer months.

For food I'd recommend Plateau, Petit Pois, Burnt Orange, The Flint House. Shelter Hall on the seafront is cheap and fun.

The two Laines/Lanes areas are great for mooching, loads of lovely shops, pubs & coffee. The Komedia cinema is good. The Pavilion and gardens is ok for a visit but Brighton isn't blessed with interesting museums/galleries imo.

Radi06music · 11/04/2023 21:29

Oh great ideas thank you!

I'll be there in May

The zip wire is to the east of Palace Pier, not near West Pier. It does look fun!

If you like hot chocolate, Knoops in the Laines is good, they have a hot chocolate menu!

Kenny’s Rock & Soul Cafe in the north laines. It used to be called Kensingtons. It has a huge vegetarian/vegan selection, as well as meat options. The food is delicious and it has outdoor seating on a balcony overlooking the shops. Well worth a trip and the breakfasts are amazing!
