Now rehearsing conversations in my head. What would you have said.

Urgh. I'd like to think I'd say
'Hey Dave how's Brexit working out for you? '
In reality I'd be too chicken.

Turquoisesilver · 10/04/2023 20:00

It isn’t as simple as that though @Lonelycrab . No one is disputing that the Tories wanted to get in, but so do every party!

Had they not asked the question, the question wouldn’t have gone away. People would have turned to other more extreme parties for the question to be addressed.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 10/04/2023 20:01

Tbh going by what happened when I saw Tony Blair I’d have probably said “hi! How are you?… kids all good? Looking forward to the school show?… …”

and then waited as the confusion crossed his face, then mine as it dawned on me he’s actually not Dad-of-kid-in-my-kids-class 😂

JacobsCrackersCheeseFogg · 10/04/2023 20:10

I was once in the same room as Tony Blair (2005?) for a work do and by then he wasn't popular and despite me having lots of insults in my arsenal I was too shy to say them.

To Cameron I'd want to say a pithy comment about leaving children in pubs or some such immature thing but again, I'd probably bail at the last second.

thegrain · 10/04/2023 20:11

I'd probably just say alright Dave? And then carry on with my say.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 10/04/2023 20:12

I probably would have nodded awkwardly and said nothing.

I don't blame him for Brexit, I blame the people who voted for it.

mids2019 · 10/04/2023 20:21

Is that you Boris?

GoodChat · 10/04/2023 20:21

booboo57 · 10/04/2023 19:57

Some context may be helpful. Dh just popped into a famous Seafood restaurant to see if we could book in. Jolly party emerged from the restaurant and stood next to me waiting with dog. At least one sc withbthem but no decernible security. Sam had to go back in for coat. So lots of chit chat whilst they were waiting and plans for the rest of the day. It just makes me so mad that he created so much chaos and hardship and there he is living the highlife.

Did he remember his kids?

booboo57 · 10/04/2023 20:25

That ws the first thought when he asked Sam when she came out with her coat "have you got everything". Wanted to say "have you got all your kids'. But wanted to be more profound and then chickened out.

Nothing, what would it change or effect change on.

I really doubt he gives a shit and I imagine it's a much bigger deal to the people that pop up and speak to him than it is to him to hear it for a few moments before getting on with his life.

If people are that bothered about the things they say they are then perhaps spend the time writing repeatedly to your local government about issues or affecting change in the local community where you can. Heckling David Cameron on a walkabout some years after he was last PM is a nice bit of virtue signalling and might make people feel better or very clever but it won't achieve anything, in the slightest.

ExtremelyDetermined · 10/04/2023 20:30

I wouldn’t have bothered him off-duty either, plus his brother has just died of pancreatic cancer so perhaps not the best time.

However there is plenty that I would like to have said, about him walking away after the Brexit referendum amongst other things.

TomatoSandwiches · 10/04/2023 20:31

I would have told him he looks like a thumb.

Westfacing · 10/04/2023 20:31

Off duty? Does he have a job?

Bluekerfuffle · 10/04/2023 20:39

Nothing. Seems unfair to bother someone forever over a past position. I would make an exception for Blair and possibly Hancock though.

MMAMPWGHAP · 10/04/2023 20:43

I blame Corbyn as much or even more than Cameron so not sure I’d say anything.

So let me get this right?
It was equally or more Corbyn's fault than Cameron's that Cameron orchestrated a Brexit referendum?
🤣

ChannelLightVessel · 10/04/2023 20:53

I used to live near Boris, and when DD was a baby I used to see him jogging along the bank of Regent’s Canal in the early morning quite often. I regret not pushing him in, but it wouldn’t have been very practical with a small baby. That is obviously the only reason I didn’t do it.

medianewbie · 10/04/2023 20:55

LizzieSiddal · 10/04/2023 17:44

I did actually see him once but he had his Dc with him so wouldn’t ever say anything in-front of them. They can’t help having an utter twat as a father.

I now what you mean but think it's Really Important that kids of folk such as Stanley Johnson, David Cameron & Rees-Smug DO know what the public thinks of them otherwise they're in danger of behaving the sane way as adults themselves.

Windingdown · 10/04/2023 21:01

When Boris Johnson went to Glastonbury they had to change his route because the locals put up a big sign saying 'Go home you fat clown'.

Ella6 · 10/04/2023 21:04

And to think users of this site are adamant this isn’t a left leaning site 😂

tokyotea · 10/04/2023 21:09

I saw him once in a quiet restaurant in the middle of the day with his family. I ignored they were there to be honest. His security guard was very on edge and giving us daggers Blush

Not what I said.
Cameron was 100% behind remain. Had Corbyn been the same the result would have been different. Corbyn had the chance to influence the vote and he didn’t.

ginpig · 10/04/2023 21:13

@booboo57 as soon as you said you were in Cornwall I assumed you must be in North Cornwall around the estuary.

When I was there end of August 2020, saw Matt Hancock on the beach accompanied by wife, kids and friends. Took us a while to confirm it was him- I wanted to go and call him a cunt but (medic) DH and friends told me not to. I wouldnt really have done it, but they have since said that I definitely should have done, particularly given what we now know about his behaviour in office

Italiancitizenship · 10/04/2023 21:14

I saw Farage the other day - crossing the road near where I work - there would have been lots to say 😡, but I didn’t 😞.

TheVanguardSix · 10/04/2023 21:17

Fuck! Not even a dead-pig-sex sound bite OP?! A take on Gorillaz Kids With Guns??? Sex With Pig. Sex With Pig. Our PM had sex with a pig.

You had one job, OP. One job!
