The Welsh Twins (as PP described)
Jubilee - lots of social experiments with various groups of people
Sorted Food - cooking, but again with the friendship element (and often chaos)

I find watching Honey Jubu relaxing.
She's a Korean 'diligent' housewife - watching her make the family meals and lunchboxes is very soothing.

Hellokittymania · 10/04/2023 09:27

Flying the nest, and Ozzie couple who travel quite a lot, they just had a little girl two years ago so they were doing some travel videos with her, they have another baby on the way so may be doing different, more local content in the meantime.

Mark Wiens is good

I don’t know if you like flight attendant blogs, but many of them travel to different places and show what they do as well, there is one who works free emirates called Sophie Fay, can’t remember her last name

there is another one called jetting Julia, again she’s a flight attendant.

thesonicoscillator · 10/04/2023 10:13

Kurt Caz is a bit bonkers. I love his videos with Kevin the Llama, who was rescued from a market. He then takes the Llama on a road trip in a taxi.

Bolivia's Most Dangerous Road with Kevin The Llama 🇧🇴

When I think about Bolivia, the first thing that comes to mind is Coca, The Yungas Road and Llamas. SIGN UP HERE: https://kurtcazarmy.com/register to watch f...

I went down a real rabbit hole with ‘Steve’s MRE’s’ a few months ago. It’s a very softly spoken American chap who tries out old and new army rations.

Strangely compelling.

”Let’s get this out on a tray. Nice”

I love Steve's MREs! So good to see a fellow fan.
Here are my faves:
Tasting History with Max Miller: he cooks authentic historical recipes, from Viking blood bread to hard tack (clack clack)
Atomic Shrimp: covers so many areas. A YouTube legend, like having your slightly odd uncle showing you interesting stuff.
Filmjoy: just the most relaxing and thoughtful film reviews. Hot Fuzz is an easy entry point, or Thor Ragnarok.
History Buffs: in-depth reviews of historical films with attention paid to the real history behind the events that inspired them
Modern History TV: a bloke who got very rich from a computer game back in the day is living the life of a medieval knight. Content better than a lot of BBC docs.
TA Outdoors: a nice bloke and his dad and mates build replica historical houses and camps using historical techniques and teach survival skills ancient and modern
Right Choice Shearing: a woman sheep/llama/alpaca shearer. So relaxing to watch and she’s lovely too.

A few more that have just occurred to me:

The Tim Traveller - a British guy based in Paris who does funny vids on weird geographical anomalies. And trains. He’s also a talented pianist who throws in witty musical references as accompaniment (so if he’s showing a vineyard he might play the theme tune to ‚Last of the Summer Wine‘ etc. He‘s not the same Tim as ‚Walk with Me‘.

Half-Asleep Chris - very quirky vids on Lego and creating strange home-made devices for no real purpose.

Evan Edinger - American who moved to the UK and does lots of country comparison vids. He used to be Dodie‘s roommate.

Map Men - mentioned by PP, they haven’t posted much recently, but they do very silly map content. Love it.

ItsOnlyWordsInnit · 10/04/2023 17:56

And I totally forgot one of the best of them all: The Welsh Viking, who does a lot of Viking, history, sewing, and historical reenactment content, and is a very nice young man too. He really should be presenting stuff on TV.

35andThriving · 14/06/2023 22:53

This thread is really interesting.

I wandered if anybody else had anything else to add, as I want to find more fun stuff to watch Smile

morbidcuriosity · 14/06/2023 22:56

Shane Dawson, his conspiracy theory vids are fabulous..

uhOhOP · 14/06/2023 23:16

Laura Kampf! She builds things – I think she describes herself as a "maker" – and is currently renovating/rebuilding an old house. She's really funny, and likeable, and I look forward to her video every week.

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 09/04/2023 22:04

Leon the lobster. But start at the start.

And Girl with Dog - she grooms very cute dogs and occasionally cats, funny and easy watching.

I live Leon the lobster. I could listen to that slow southern accent forever.

Lillygolightly · 14/06/2023 23:57

The Why Files - brilliant and interesting channel covering a wide range of topics from debunking conspiracies, strange happenings, historical events, mysteries etc with a touch of comedy

The Behaviour Panel - 4 behaviour experts who analyse behaviour of various people in the news/media, they cover a lot of disappearances.

The Slow Mo Guys - things slowed down and filmed in 4K it’s so interesting and my kids love it too. Funny and relaxing.

Lillygolightly · 15/06/2023 00:00

Blue Dot Aviation - covers lots of air disasters, a bit like air craft investigation. Soothing voice too and easy to listen to.

74 Gear - A Dreamliner pilot (first officer) who gives loads of interesting insights into the world of commercial aviation.

MedievalMadness · 15/06/2023 00:33

Also love Leon The Lobster (can never eat lobster again ), a Chick Called Albert, The Why Files.

Other favourites are Ask A Mortician, Medieval Madness (my username inspiration), Andrew Cotters Olive and Mabel videos, Uyen Ninh (a funny and very sweet Vietnamese woman who charts her life since meeting her German boyfriend and moving to Germany. Lots of funny short videos, Michael Spicer (love his The Room Next Door sketches), KarenBritChicks What Everyone Is Wearing In New York series. Her recent stuff is getting a bit too sponsor plugs now so I only watch her NY series), The History Squad.

MyMachineAndMe · 15/06/2023 01:22

Zan Von Zed
Jack Jack Creator
Hanabira
Abandoned miniatures
Thalasso Hobbyer
Cross Keys bookmaking
Angela Clayton
Evan Edinger

Seddon · 15/06/2023 01:45

I'm mostly following for ideas but there's a couple I can recommend that aren't too niche:

Architectural Digest's celebrity homes

Andreea Ali makeup - I don't wear that much makeup and certainly nowhere near as much as she slaps on but I love the transformation and she's just very watchable. I have learned some great tips.

HereBeBarr is a very relatable guy posting New York food and travel info.

HolidayHappy123 · 15/06/2023 01:47

Mark Rober, former NASA scientist.

His squirrel obstacle course video is a favourite in my house.

sashh · 15/06/2023 07:56

Foxes afloat.

They live in a house now but for 2-3 years they lived on a canal boat, Colin is a bit of history buff and tells you all about the places they visit and constantly makes his husband Shaun laugh.

Myles Power - he doesn't vlog as much now but he has a whole collection of 'woo' items he tries out such as trying crystal healing on his mum's cat.

He also debunks bad science.

Atomic Shrimp.

He does a few 'themes' one is 'food challenges' where he sets himself some rules and tries to create food so he might pick 5 days for food on £5. He will put restrictions on whether he can forage or 'urban forage', use cupboard items etc.

He also does foraging.

Comparison of different foods, he invent a machine that wiggles hot dogs as part of his rating system.

He also does scambaiting where he replies to Nigerian scammers. This lead to him making friends with a man in Nigeria and they will try to create the same challenges or dishes but with local ingredients.

Deathraystare · 15/06/2023 08:42

@CormoranStrikeIsBloodyLovely

Yep also love Walk with me Tim. Fascinating. He was walking along a sandy beach which was up North somewhere. It was a typical seaside place but the beach looked gorgeous.

Mr Ballen - love his stories

Love paranormal stuff

Love bird videos - mainly Cockatoos like Pebbles (a real foul mouth!), Barney (Hilarious! When he talks to Dad about him going clubbing, drinking cocktails, getting Ubers and working hard! Who knew birds had such a social life!) and Mr Max. They can have such awful strops! A mix of a 3 year old having a tantrum and a hormonal teenager. I was almost crying with laughter when Mr Max stomped back to his cage and slammed the door shut! Typical teen behaviour! Also Gizmo the clever African Gray parrot. Comes out with some funny quotes "Mum beats me!" "Who let the birds out" and a number of gurgling, splashing water sounds and tells his owner what things are made of. "Metal, glass" etc.

One about an Amish guy who left the society. How when he sees his Mother he has to dress up Amish and how they trashed his father's grave (he committed suicide).

There is one about two brothers who are coping with their 91 year old Dad who has dementia. I can across earlier clips where they were not so tolerant yet of his behaviour. They take turns in looking after him so perhaps that doesn't help but I reckon it is easier on the sons! He regularly asks for his cheque book and money and cannot understand why he can't drive! Must be very hard on both sides!

I also love the ones (mainly in USA) when people go up to homeless people and ask what they would like best and they always humbly seem to ask for a burger or something like that.

There is also a lovely black family (forget where from in America). They are living and working in UK. He is very interested in farm stuff and goes to all the county fairs. The children are lovely.

I would never camp again but love those ones where mainly single men go camping in the wilds or somewhere a bit woo, talk about their equipment and stuff. Dunno why I like it but I do! Also the people that live in their vans.

@ItsOnlyWordsInnit I love the sound of the Welsh Viking!

The Welsh Twins as mentioned and the Vietnamese lady with her German boyfriend. There is also an American lady married to an Italian (they live in USA). It is hammed up of course, but his opinion of American "Authentic Italian" food and her putting ketchup on Italian food is funny.

Mrs Eats - A Japanese lady on Japanese stuff.

Also Extra about a gay guy (half Japanese half Philippino ) in Japan. Doesn't get on with his dad much who is very religious and hates his son's gayness. There is another gay brother and a straight one and the Mum (not living with the dad) is lovely and makes me laugh. Mainly about shopping for food/clothes etc and the nightlife.

Deathraystare · 15/06/2023 08:58

OOH! Forgotten a Norwegian one! Two guys (Related by marriage I think) who discuss all thigs Norwegian. They do take the piss! Occasionally serious when one talks about his Sami background.

35andThriving · 15/06/2023 09:03

Deathraystare, that Amish one sounds like it would be interesting. Do you know what it's called?

Deathraystare · 15/06/2023 09:10

Cannot remember - actually there are a few but I love his silly laugh at the end. I will post back this afternoon when not at work.

Another one which touches my heart is Vanya in the Hay about a guy who goes round Russia doing good. Some people are so isolated and have nothing and he gives them stuff.

35andThriving · 15/06/2023 09:15

Thank you, Deathraystare.
