Anyone else not knowingly had covid?

It seems like any time anyone has a virus of which there are many people auto suggest covid. Which is not logical at all. I wonder though how many people haven't had it. I had pneumonia in Jan 2020, ds2 had a positive test 2021. Nobody else tested positive tho, he wasn't actually ill either.

Me. DD had it, and sneezed in my face and slept in my bed when she did. I didn't even get a sniffle.

Nimblesandbimbles · 02/04/2023 18:46

I had it for the first time in Feb and have a few friends who finally caught it this month. I don’t know how we avoided it for so long though 🤷🏻‍♀️

Greengreented · 02/04/2023 18:51

I’ve not had it, I was also in a covid vaccine trial so definitely hadn’t had it in the early stages of the pandemic (and hadn’t had chance to get tested before the trial). I am now one of two in a 22-strong office at work who has dodged it…so far. 🤞

You might not have treated positive but surely everyone who has been living anything like a normal life for the last year or so has had it by now? It’s been rampant. I’d be surprised if anyone hasn’t had it who is not housebound

As has always been the case 1 in 3 people are asymptomatic, meaning they don't develop covid 19 so they may have been exposed to Sars Cov 2 but don't go on to develop covid. Likely due to pre exisiting immunity.

I've never had it, symptomatically anyway. Not had so much as a cold since 2019 which I don't understand because I've been surrounded by sick colleagues all winter. My ds has had it twice and numerous colds, no distancing in our home (can't believe people made their children sit outsideHmm)

Did you have the vaccine?

I had a positive blood test for antibodies back in June 2020 (for work) but when I actually had COVID I've no idea.
Never had it again either. That I know of!

devildeepbluesea · 02/04/2023 18:54

Ummm, I don’t know!

Definitely had it once but who knows? Could have had it umpteen times and not known it.

Bonjovispjs · 02/04/2023 18:55

As far as I know I've never had it even though I've been around people with it.

DramaAlpaca · 02/04/2023 18:57

DH, adult DS and I have it now, for the first time. How we managed to avoid it for three years I have no idea. Fortunately it's been mild for all of us.

ChronicallyMyself · 02/04/2023 19:01

The 3 of us in our house have never tested positive or had the classic symptoms. Unless you count that I had a gruelling 8-week-long chesty, high fevered flu in December '19/Jan '20. I was in my first trimester with first (and only!) child.
SO THAT SUCKED

Allmyghosts · 02/04/2023 19:01

I have not had the vaccine. Did not trust the mrna shit. Didn't think it was worth the risk

Blanketpolicy · 02/04/2023 19:18

In our extended families of around 35 only 5 have had it. 2 before vaccines, 1 died.

2 caught while on holiday, one works in care home and caught there, 1 caught it and rest of his immediate family didn't, one caught it in hospital.

We have lots of teens/early 20s in family at school, uni, socialising, going on holidays and none of then have knowingly had it. Ds has had lots of exposure but never caught it, he once spent 4 hours sitting in a car with friends, windows up and one of them felt rough, they went home and tested positive, no one else in the car caught it!

ashitghost · 02/04/2023 19:22

I’ve never knowingly had it. I’ve had six jabs.

weightymatters73 · 02/04/2023 19:23

I had it recently without "knowing" - just a cold for me. Only realised when my parents caught it and tested..... it's different now to the original virus that killed people....My parents had it way more mildly than I did in 2022.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 02/04/2023 19:26

I’ve never had it. I was working in a vaccination centre for two years meeting hundreds of unvaccinated people at close quarters so I’m a bit surprised really.

GrumpySausage · 02/04/2023 19:35

Not knowingly had it no. Tested throughout when necessary and no positive test.

My 6 year old son had it and when doing his test he coughed in my face and I actually joked 'imagine if it's positive' but I still didn't catch it.

I did have symptoms and felt awful March 2021 but tested negative throughout. My dad has the same symptoms at the same time and he tested positive.

Both Dh and I have not had it and know that for certain as we've been on a research trial which tests out blood.

Spanielsarepainless · 02/04/2023 19:53

I've not had it, DH hasn't, best friend hasn't. We've all been living as normally as possible, not cowering indoors. All had every jab offered. Some people just have better immunity than others.

LlynTegid · 02/04/2023 19:54

Unless I had it asymptomatically I have not had it.

Confidentialityiskey · 02/04/2023 19:58

I haven’t had it.
DP is CEV but I’m NHS & have been working the whole time. I’m still, along with a few colleagues, wearing a mask in work.

seashaken · 02/04/2023 19:59

I haven't knowingly had it, but did have something hideous that dragged on for weeks early in 2020 before covid really took off here, so who knows.

Scirocco · 02/04/2023 20:01

I've not knowingly had it, which is quite mind-blowing given that I work in a patient-facing role and did so throughout the pandemic, and all my family apart from DC and myself have had it, including some pretty severe cases. I test at least once per week, so unless I had an asymptomatic case very early on, I don't think I've had it yet.

None of my family have had it or any symptoms of it and that includes our son who is a teacher. My daughter and myself have both been to gigs , theatres , shopping etc . We have all had all the vaccines we’ve been offered which included the spring booster for myself .

lljkk · 02/04/2023 20:04

I assume I've had it a few times but low symptoms, non event.

Siddalee · 02/04/2023 20:04

Household of four adults - me, DH and two adult offspring.
DH is CEV and shielded. He always tested regularly and still tests if he has as much as a sniffle.
Me and “kids” have all had it twice. Husband has never had it even though we’d been very close the day before I first tested +ve. On the second time we were abroad on holiday and shared a bed for at least four days when I was +ve (only tested when I got home after feeling ill for a week)

Interesting that a previous poster mentions having had pneumonia but not Covid. DH had pneumonia at least twice before the pandemic and twice since. I vaguely remember reading speculation about a link between previous infections and current immunity.
