Things that are worth paying a bit extra for

Just spent the best part of 45 minutes with DC going through numerous (5 - DC is a stationery fiend!) and doing an audit of all the working pens/pencils/felt tips/colouring pencils etc.
Never ceases to amaze me how disheartening it is when the leads in the pencils/colouring pencils constantly snap when you are trying to sharpen them.
The branded ones were a dream in comparison.
Pic (hopefully attached) shows the difference in quality.
The staedtler ones were great.
The ones from unknown origin had chipped wood and snapped leads.
There was even one that could not be sharpened! The wood just wouldn't 'give'.

What things in your life do you consider it worthwhile to pay a bit extra for?
Colouring pencils and pencils are now firmly in my list.
Bin bags too.
Split bin bags are not a pleasant experience!

Bed sheets and pillow cases. But be careful once you start you cannot go back to the cheaper ones...

Toddlerteaplease · 02/04/2023 12:18

I always bought cheap shampoo etc. until my friend started buying me L'Occitane stuff. Their shampoo is amazing and the shower gel lasts forever. I'm
Converted.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/04/2023 12:18

Not so fussed about moulting brown though.

Also expensive, umbrellas, glasses, and gloves. Because I look after them better.

I used to say feta but with cost of living I've had to trade down to Greek Salad Cheese now.

I'm with you on the bin bags. Also Ecover washing up liquid. Used to be rubbish but is brilliant now, whereas Fairy's gone the other way.

Oopswediditagain2023 · 02/04/2023 12:26

Your teeth and hair! Well worth the investment.
Also good tea bags, toilet roll, sausages and bacon, branded Diet Coke (own brand is vile!), branded chocolate, and Warburton's crumpets/potato cakes. I agree with pencils, especially colouring pencils that when you go to use them they don't colour properly 😤

DandledASandle · 02/04/2023 12:26

And respect to you for scaling Stationery Mountain OP! Good work!

ohsuzannah · 02/04/2023 12:26

Jet888 · 02/04/2023 12:29

The velvet touch tights from waitrose. Amazing

scarecrow22 · 02/04/2023 12:33

Taylor's Lazy Sunday ground coffee. We've down-branded most of our shops: I'd do the same for the rest, cut out snacks and put my kids to work on the tills before I gave up my coffee.

The No 7 and decaf are also vg.

scarecrow22 · 02/04/2023 12:34

And food waste bags.
