Vinted - is it safe? Read many negative reviews and am wary - but there's some good stuff!

Always bought a lot of second hand clothing on ebay but have been looking at Vinted recently. Things seem quite a lot cheaper on there and I'm wondering if it's 'safe'. Looked at Trustpilot and the reviews are pretty terrible - 65% are 1 star reviews!

I'd be starting with something fairly cheap, under £10 so not a major issue if something goes wrong. I seem to recall a thread a while back on here about Vinted and many people were saying that the customer service was terribe, so I'm quite wary.

Does anyone use Vinted for buying and can you let me know the positives and the negatives please?

Thanks in advance!

Vinted is as good as the seller. There's a lot of crap on there and you have to read the product info carefully. Out of loads of baby purchases I've only had one bundle I've sent back because it was in bloody awful condition. Thankfully the seller wasn't an arse about it.

Vinted add a fee to protect your purchases and they're pretty good at honouring it. The most common issue is Evri losing parcels, it's frustrating but normally both seller and purchaser get compensated by Vinted.

It's great as a seller because the postage is super easy. Much less of a faff than eBay.

I struggle to see what the buyer protect gives u as a seller Sent my lampshades in a black carrier bag, funnily enough they're trashed, but vinted are making me pay the full return postage costs. Like damaged item return postage should be on the seller if they want it back

We have been using Vinted for a few years bought far too much, but also sold lots too. Only had a problem once where a coat went missing that I sent, Vinted refunded buyer and I got to keep the selling money. I live rurally so I only send via inpost and open just purchases delivered to an inpost locker. Evri not the best and I don't entertain Royal Mail at all.

I ordered an item 2 months ago and alerted Vinted after 1 week that I hadn't received it.

Communication was poor and I had to dispute the transaction with the bank who, to their credit, looked into the issue thoroughly. They sent me a papertrail clearly showing my order being delivered to completely the wrong address, including a photo of a stranger signing for it.

It's a clear case of the courier making a mistake. Vinted refuse to refund me or to follow up with the courier (Yodel).

So, if you're ordering from Vinted, bear in mind you may not receive your order or a refund.

Vinted UK

I have a major issue with vinted when a buyer, who has no feedback on purchases or sales suspended a necklace purchase payment. We agreed on £250 which I then sent double boxed bubble wrapped and sealed in plastic only for the "buyer" to say packaging was damaged.. I have sent in excess of 20 emails to try and get Vinted to resolve with no success, its also been 7 weeks since I sent the item!

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!

I bought a pair of mislabelled jeans from seller Orsolyasz, so they did not fit! The seller agreed I could return them. I sent them back on the day of the deadline provided by Vinted, only to find out - as soon as I'd sent them back, Vinted had cancelled the return and told me I was too late. So the seller gets to keep my money and the returned item, and I have lost out on all counts. Despite raising the matter with Vinted, they refused to do anything at all, even though I fully complied with their instructions. I cannot believe a company would treat a customer soo poorly. Go to Depop, Ebay or Etsy for better service, Vinted is an absolute joke! I will never use them again.
