Vinted - is it safe? Read many negative reviews and am wary - but there's some good stuff!

Always bought a lot of second hand clothing on ebay but have been looking at Vinted recently. Things seem quite a lot cheaper on there and I'm wondering if it's 'safe'. Looked at Trustpilot and the reviews are pretty terrible - 65% are 1 star reviews!

I'd be starting with something fairly cheap, under £10 so not a major issue if something goes wrong. I seem to recall a thread a while back on here about Vinted and many people were saying that the customer service was terribe, so I'm quite wary.

Does anyone use Vinted for buying and can you let me know the positives and the negatives please?

Another question about Vinted! I've ordered a couple of items but can't seem to find where my purchases are displayed. On ebay there's 'purchase history' but can't find anything like that on VInted. I did a google search and it said under profile it should say 'orders' but it doesn't. Am I missing something?

You need to go to Profile and then My Orders. It should be the option just below Balance. Did it appear? Both your sales and purchases appear in the same list x

Are you on the app? What device? On Apple you press profile and there's 'my orders'

I've bought and sold loads. 100+ transactions. All my sales have gone smoothly (all 5 star reviews). All but 2 of my purchases have been fine - amazing in some cases - except 2 where I found small holes but in both cases the sellers were apologetic and immediately refunded.

@shorttwoshot - There is definitely no 'orders' option under my profile. There's 'Profile, settings, personalisation, balance, donations, log out'. I've definitely purchased two items, have received emails about their tracking progress. Does it take a while for orders to show?

This is what my “profile” section looks like but this on iPhone app. Circled my orders. You should be able to find them in your messages too.

@BanditsGravyStain - gosh, mine looks nothing like that! No link to forum either. Maybe I'll try logging in on phone just to see if it's different.

Oh, I've just found out that apparently, you don't see the 'my orders' bit on the desktop site - only on the app! That's madness! Just going to log in on phone to check that....

Yes, the app is completely different! It's crap that the desktop site is so useless in comparison - you can't see your orders, forum holiday mode, bundle discount.

What I still can't find is the items I'm selling! On ebay it has the 'selling' section. Can't see that here.

It's brilliant unless you have an issue and then vinted couldn't care less. That's why I never spend more than a tenner an item!

On the app the items you have listed for sale are on your profile page under the heading "wardrobe". I've never used the web version so not sure where it would be there.

I think maybe becsuse it’s an app primarily? No idea though! It is rubbish you can’t see the options somewhere though.

If you click on your profile and “view my profile” if you have that section and scroll down you will see your items for sale. Just how you view others profiles.

I do think the app takes some getting used to when you’re used to eBay but I really prefer it now

@ButFirstTea - there's no 'wardrobe bit! Unless it's terrifically well hidden! This is on the app too.

On the app click 'profile' in bottom right corner, then 'view my profile' right on the top, then the next page is your wardrobe/for sale items and you can scroll through them.

I only use Vinted now, used to use eBay, but fed up of trawling through the cheap new stuff on there.

I love Vinted. I've had no problems, everything has arrived and been as described. I've bought coats, tops, shoes, jeans. No problems.

Terrible. Apparently if you buy an item and don't realise it's counterfeit within 48hrs - tough Vinted don't care. SO meaning it's Ok to sell knock off products so long as you don't get caught out within 48hrs. LOAD OF RUBBISH.

A Complete Disaster of an App

If I could give Vinted zero stars, I would. This app is an absolute nightmare! First off, the safety level is a joke. Hackers seem to have free rein, braiding and fraud sellers on a business level. Don’t expect your personal data to be safe here! And as if that’s not enough, the marketplace is flooded with counterfeits. Sellers are convincing unsuspecting buyers that they’re getting genuine items when it’s all fake. Vinted does NOTHING about this. And here’s the cherry on top: your account can get randomly blocked without you even violating any rules. Yes, just like that! You could simply wake up one day and find out your account has been blocked- no explanation, no warning. And the worst part? It seems like evenVinted doesn’t know how to fix it. They’ll tell you to wait a week, maybe even a month, for the block to be lifted automatically. Ridiculous! If you’re thinking about using Vinted, save yourself the frustration and stay far, far away.

They got the money for the product I didn't receive, I don't trust it, I don't recommend it to someone else

This company is lacking logic!
My order was delivered to a COLLECTION POINT, but was delayed for a week, so I didn't collect it. Now, it has been returned to the seller, but I am still unable to get a refund. Their reasons is that I missed compete a part of their form (BUT DIDN'T ANSWER WHAT PART), I didn't provide proof that I don’t have the item (DESPITE TRACKING INFO PROVIDED). Additionally, they claim I contacted them too late, even though I REACHED OUT while it was still at the COLLECTION POINT! I ended up without money and the item!

Buy and sell loads on Vinted with no issue - had one problem where I returned an item because it was clearly damaged and the seller pretended she hadn’t received it when I chased for a refund even though she’d previously claimed she had. I sent Vinted screenshots of our conversation and they refunded me immediately. I’ve got a whole new wardrobe of gorgeous clothes for a fraction of what I’d have paid a couple of years ago and now no longer buy new 😄

I have got some beautiful items from Vinted for not a lot of money.

My tips are -

Only use sellers that have very good ratings, read some of their reviews first
Select New With Tags or New Without tags (take a good look at the item if it's the latter)
Don't spend a lot of money
