What three things do most people In your life now not know about you?

I’m talking about friends rather than close family, DH etc.
friend and I were just talking about all the little quirks people have and the interesting experiences in their past which they might not share now because they don’t think about them or they just wouldn’t come up (or they might not want to!)

I didn’t think I really had any but actually:

  1. I published three erotic fiction books when I was younger (cannot bring myself to read them now I think I’d die of embarrassment)

  2. I can’t point my toes or scrunch my toes as I broke them without realising doing ballet and they knitted together incorrectly. I don’t wear certain styles of sandals as they are a bit mishapen because of this.

  3. I lost my virginity to someone who is now very well known but obviously wasn’t then

there’s probably an awful lot more but my brain is blank. Curious to see other peoples - not fishing for secrets, just things that don’t really come up in conversation!

I used to be a member of Mensa - I let my membership lapse as it was pretty boring and I didn't feel I got anything out of it.

I represented Great Britain in sport, once.

In the 90s I did a bit of stand-up comedy and once finished runner-up to Tim Vine in a 'new comic' competition.

MrMucker · 25/03/2023 20:55

I once snogged James Hunt the racing driver.
I have no toe nail on either of my two little toes.
I used to have six fake kids so I'd get birthday vouchers from the Early Learning Centre every two months and spend them on our two actual kids. Not ashamed, they oughtn't to have put their breast feeding zone (back then) in the toilets-disgusting.

evangron · 25/03/2023 20:55

Lots but we'll go with:

• Abortion because I got pregnant by my first husband's cousin.

• I married my second husband purely for money, but I do care for him now - our children have wonderful lives - 5 bedroom house, private school, healthcare, want for nothing etc. so zero regrets and he's very happy.

• I had the best sex of my life with another woman and I will miss her for the rest of my life.

I'm now a v respectable member of society. My 20s were a shambles.

Luredbyapomegranate · 25/03/2023 21:10

I’ve had two terminations. Some people who don’t know me well do know this. I am never quite sure if the fact I have never talked about it with friends is because I have secret issues with it or CBA.

I have slept with a lot of people. A lot.

I had a starter marriage. People who have known me for ages do know that (obvs) but lots don’t.

scoobydoo1971 · 25/03/2023 21:14
  1. That I have a life limiting illness, and it will kill me at some stage.
  2. That I am a millionaire, as money causes tension in friendships.
  3. That I prefer my own company to others. I volunteer in a specific advisory role and I suppose my clients envisage I am an extrovert people person (which I am not).
Musicaltheatrefan · 25/03/2023 21:15

I was touched sexually by an uncle when I was about 14. Never told anyone about that. It never happened again, I made sure I was never close enough to him.

I lost my virginity at 24, to my now DH, so I have never slept with anyone else. And I haven’t had sex with him for about 10 years as he has lost interest. We still love each other (in our 60s now) so I put up with it.

ellecf21 · 25/03/2023 21:23
  1. That I buy packs of cookies to pick out all the chocolate chips and eat them at least 4 times a week.
  2. I have to do at least 15,000 steps a day and will jog on the spot to hit this if I have to (often hitting 20,000 most days but 15 is my comfortable number)
  3. I hate spending money
letsdoanamechangeforthis · 25/03/2023 21:28

I can't burp.
I lost my virginity at the age of 13.
I got my first grey hair at 21.
I like a finger up my backside during foreplay.

Shinygreenbeetle · 25/03/2023 21:30

My son was conceived through rape by my now ex

I am horrendously in debt

Four years ago, I’d made plans to kill myself and had everything in place (letters to my loved ones, huge stash of pills)

That would be way too outing if I said who I write about 🤣 People in real life know I'm a huge fan.

Sounds romantic doesn't it? But it really wasn't, it was a drunken shag with a guy I knew from the pub when I was younger and I've regretted it ever since. I'm much better behaved now 😁

Hang on a minute.... did you shag Prince Harry??

Ha ha, Eeeewwww no, where has this Prince Harry thing even come from? 🤣

SailorSueSailorStan · 25/03/2023 22:16

As a child I used to pick at the bubblegum on the pavement and eat the pink bits. At least I knew not to eat the dirty bit on the top!!

I would love to live on an island on top of Scotland where the neighbours are far far away.

I wee in the bath every single time.

emmetgirl · 25/03/2023 22:29

I was sexually abused when I was 13
I've had sex with more than 100 men
I've had a 3some
I pee in the shower
I used to be bulimic

neitherofthem · 25/03/2023 22:30

I was horrendously bullied at primary school, and although my parents spoke to the school, neither the teachers nor the head believed me. They believed the other kid, who told them I was a liar and making it all up to get them into trouble.

In my teens I was taken into care after the death of one parent, and the nervous breakdown and admittance to a psychiatric hospital of the other.

A world famous person came to my wedding. They were only a kid at the time though, and not famous at all.

Andadragon · 25/03/2023 22:49

When I was a teenager I was part of an emotional affair with a married man over twice my age. I was technically of legal age but had a profoundly sheltered /religious upbringing and was not emotionally mature in any sense. As a grown woman I now believe I was being groomed. I didnt think i was doing anything wrong at the time, but i do feel taken advantage of at least. I have felt extreme guilt for nearly two decades.

I lost my virginity late, 3 days before my 25th birthday to my now DH. On account of the religious indoctrination that the grooming man couldn't quite crack.

People call me super mum but I feel very lonely. Since having a child I have lost myself and I see no way out. I love DH which is my saving grace, but I am a slave to my child's routine which means I get nothing for myself ever. No hobbies, child free time with friends, gym etc. I am watching myself slowly deteriorate before my own eyes

Nottellinganyone · 25/03/2023 23:06

Amazing and chilling thread. Mine are very banal. I've still namechanged though because two of them are heavily disapproved of.

  1. I had a year of shagging numerous strangers which included lots of married men. I think a few of the ones who claimed to be in sexless relationships were telling the truth.
  1. I'm bisexual. I've only really figured this out recently and my public relationships are with men so I don't tell people about it.
  1. I've sued the NHS. No regrets.
InspectorSpacetime · 25/03/2023 23:27

I think most people think I’m quite staid and boring. They don’t know that:

  1. I used to smoke weed almost daily for 15 years
  2. I have a gambling addiction. I’m working really hard to overcome it and hate myself. It really spiralled during the pandemic and I lost a stupid amount of money.
  3. I like to relax by watching spot squeezing videos on YouTube (not so bad this one)
darksecretsmoon · 25/03/2023 23:30

I had a 12 year relationship with a woman ( I'm a woman) 15 years ago.

I'm up to my ears in debt and it stops me sleeping at night.

Im worried I'm damaging my liver due to the amount I've started drinking recently.

NannyOggsWhiskyStash · 26/03/2023 00:13

I was a heroin and methadone addict for 9 years. My first well paying job was as an escort when I was 18. I think at least 80% of the population are entitled idiots.

turnedoff · 26/03/2023 00:51

NC for this.

  1. my dad molested me after the death of my mum aged 12
  2. I got a conviction for theft aged 16 (because there was no food in the house and I was angry and bitter at my lot in life)
  3. I'm a closet narcissist but you'll never know it.

(My life on paper and if you ever met me looks good...)

NC for this
I stole money regularly when I was young - I'm scrupulously honest now tho
I was sexually assaulted when I was 12 - it was facilitated by a policeman - I felt guilty for being sexually precocious for years but eventually realised I'd been groomed
I was unfaithful multiple times to my first husband- I'm deeply ashamed of this and wouldn't dream of it in my current relationship

namechange8621 · 26/03/2023 15:15

I was a muse for several major rockstars in my time and there are iconic songs and even the bulk of an album inspired by me or the things we said and did.

A US President slid into my DMs once 😳at an early stage of his term.

I know that one of my older siblings is biologically a half-sibling but she may never know.

Blimey!

secretz · 26/03/2023 17:01

I took shedloads of class A drugs as a teenager.
Also shoplifted and lied a lot.
Am very straight and honest now!
