I can't be the only person who hates 'the claw'?

I love looking at beauty threads/forums etc, no idea why as I'm pretty basic but I like looking at pretty things I suppose. But lordy I hate that claw thing that some people do to show their nails off, particularly when it's accompanied by a carefully pulled down jumper sleeve for that oh so cosy charm.

Also hate the term 'the ick', so ridiculous to hear adults talk like that.

Fucking hate celery too.

Yes this is light-hearted, no it doesn't matter and no it doesn't really affect me. Just some weekend nonsense.

“The ick” is symptomatic of everything having to have a special name or title to make it clear that it’s most definitely “A thing” and not just something they’ve made up. (I hate “A thing” for the same reason. Literally everything is a thing - hence the word “every-thing”!)

I feel similarly about people on Mumsnet “going NC”. You’re just no longer talking to someone! Why does it need to be an event in its own right? It sounds like it should be one of those Notice of Closure messages you get when a company is withdrawing a service - “I regret to announce that, as of 00:00 AM on Monday 21 August, I will be withdrawing communication with Aunty Pam and Going NC. Please refer all enquiries to my nan after this point.”

Well..that Notice of Closure you have described is exactly how I see it in my minds eye every time I see the word NC. Because how do the other side know?? 🤔

The claw photos give me the violent icks, I shudder it's so bad. Is that any better? 😂

Ick - hate that word. We say I've been put off someone/something. Gone right off them.
Claw, horrible nails, I'm imagining all the bacteria under them. Eyebrows, false eyelashes during the day and the heavy contouring nowadays are awful.
While I'm at it, why every female is "gorgeous" , "beautiful" , looking stunning Hun etc. When they are nothing of the sort.
Oh, little high girly voices on middle age women especially does my head in.

It does make me feel a bit queasy, to be honest; but who am I to talk? I always loved Findus Crispy Pancakes, probably something to do with my mam's mate getting loads of freebies, as she worked there.

I love celery raw and cooked. My husband asked me what the ick was when I read out last nights fart post, it's the boke in our language. The claw, I don't see many of these tbh but its stupid I agree 🙄

I think 'the ick' is a great phrase. Two tiny words, a mere six letters, that perfectly encapsulates that feeling of desire now turned to revulsion.

Celery is a bit of a prick though.

I'm more bothered by the post manicure shots where the 'cleanup' means that the perfectly even, shiny gel application is neatly bordered by absolutely red raw nail folds doused in oil to try to hide the damage that's been inflicted upon the woman.

Can they not see red?

But the 'ick' isn't a new feeling, it's just a new stupid word! It doesn't need a word! You don't even need to go around telling everyone why you've gone off someone, it can be for a miniscule, ridiculous reason, but it doesn't need a new twee word to go with it.

Glad to have found some fellow celery haters ...
