Ds 8 is really poorly with a sick bug, no diorreah just being sick. The last time he was sick was yesterday about noon. He won't eat at all, sipping fluids but just won't eat. He said he feels awful and has sunken eyes and just generally looks terrible. I have tried him with toast which he is refusing, salted hula hoops which he is refusing, just starting to worry now as usually with a sickness bug you're sick for a few hours and then start to get better but he doesn't seem to be getting any better yet. He slept from 4pm yesterday until this morning didn't wake apart from to heave

I think if he's not responding to you normally I'd either call 111 or go to A&E, that's quite alarming. Syringing fluids definitely better than nothing but he might already be really dehydrated so might not be sufficient, I would have thought.

This is what I'm worrying about but dh thinks he's fine with us syringing I do tend to freak out and have anxiety but he isn't himself

Trust your mother's instincts. He doesn't sound just 'normally' ill. Poor kid. Maybe ring 111?

Can you wake him op? If you can't rouse him and he's not responding normally I would get him seen tbh

Based on what you’ve seen this afternoon, take him to an and e, no doubt. My son became more and more sleepy with an illness and he needed days in hospital on IV antibiotics to kill whatever the infection was. Don’t leave him any longer

He is wake again now. He seems more alert than he was earlier on, he won't drink though that's what's concerning me the most but dh thinks we just need to carry on syringing the water into him

Honestly just take him to get seen. It’s free, don’t risk his health because a+e is a pain. I think they’ll react very quickly to him based on what you’ve said.

Syringe rehydration sachets not just water and hell probably be fine. Would he be better using a straw instead? Little and often.

I've made him some dihrolyte and given him a straw. If that don't work then I'll be getting him seen. Thanks everyone. Me and dh have had some cross words, he doesn't seem to get worried about anything which might be a good thing normally but it also minimizes things !
