What's the worst film you've ever watched? Think I just melted my brain...

...by watching Spy Intervention on Prime. It has Drew Van Acker in it of PLL fame and I was looking for something a bit easy, he's pretty (I know, I know, very high brow of me) and dear GOD it was terrible. I may have to burn my own eyes out - was it a romance, was it a comedy? Was it just fucking terrible? yes, yes to the latter.

I can't quite believe I kept watching until the bitter end, I think I was expecting something to happen that would explain why it was so bad?

What's the worst film you've ever watched?

PS: DVA WAS pretty in it. Very. But it still wasn't enough to save it.

I bloody love David Lynch, but not surprised that his films have had quite a few mentions as I can see why they'd be an acquired taste. I hate pretty much anything with Tom Cruise (I still haven't got over him ruining An Interview With a Vampire), ditto Russell Crowe and Gwyneth Paltrow. Specific films I hate are Man in the Moon, Dragonheart 2, and also Godzilla - even lovely Jean Reno couldn't save that clunker.

CrackOfDawn · 21/03/2023 11:02

A dead heat between Heat and The Insider. Michael Mann makes the dullest movies, yet critics seem to love them

Crayfishforyou · 21/03/2023 11:03

Twishite.

RaraRachael · 21/03/2023 11:03

Mama Mia - utter, utter shite.

Justinripley · 21/03/2023 11:03

The Luther film on Netflix

purpledalmation · 21/03/2023 11:03

Don't look back. Just no idea what was going on. All atmosphere and no substance

The Luther film on Netflix

That was indeed truly dreadful. And clearly they have plans for more. Poor Idris.

I hate all Mike Leigh films. He has that middle class intellectual man's way of examining working class people, and particularly working class women, like white rats in his personal lab and dividing us into people Mike Leigh thinks are stupid but worthy of his pity (Vera Drake) and dreadful people who have the temerity to be what Mike Leigh despises (Abigail's Party).

And then there are things with a self-congratulatory ensemble cast of Mike Leigh acolytes like Mr Turner and Topsy-Turvy.

I wasn’t keen on Another Year. The main characters didn’t seem to learn anything or change, and just spuddled about on their allotment. Was there a point to this film I didn’t get?

PoshHorseyBird · 21/03/2023 11:07

Mamma Mia.
Dont get me wrong I love ABBA, but this film...essentially a film about a woman who sleeps with three guys in such quick succession that she has no idea which one is the father of her child! Never mind, you can all share her and we'll sing about it! Lovely! (I feel I may be on my own with this one😂)

I'd forgotten that - probably my brain blacked it out in an attempt to preserve my sanity.

IT WAS DIRE!!!!

horseyhorsey17 · 21/03/2023 11:08

Hostel. My brother lured me to see it on false pretences by claiming it was a lovely film about backpacking around Europe. It wasn't. I would have walked out but I was in the middle of the row, surrounded by people, and didn't want to make a scene. I can't cope with torture porn and am still mentally scarred!

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 21/03/2023 11:10

Most films marketed towards women seem to be the most inane shit that I can't even remember them.

My least favourites that I can remember:

The Hateful Eight. Husband and I turned it off after about 45 minutes, it was really so unpleasant. I normally like a Tarantino movie, but this one was horrible.

Fast and Furious 6. This one goes down in legend between husband and I after we watched it at the cinema and I was actually angry after it ended Grin. He turned to me and went "that was alright wasn't it?" and I told him I was angry he'd made me watch it!

Was not a fan of Everyone...etc. I love Michelle Yeoh, but it was just confusing and boring at the same time.

I'm not a particularly high-brow movie watcher (I love Roland Emmerich disaster movies for example) but I just find the ones that try and have a clever storyline just...aren't. And the ones that don't even try are just inane bollocks. Couldn't tell you my favourite movie of the last five years.

DaisyBoop · 21/03/2023 11:11

A Spanish film called ‘The Platform’. I really wanted to like it but I just didn’t get it and was bored to tears after about 20 minutes and just turned it off. Also (controversial I know) but any Harry Potter after the second one 🥱 🥱 Awkward as DH is a proper Potterhead and loves watching the films and listening to the books!

NoLongerATeacher · 21/03/2023 11:12

Pokemon 2000 closely followed by Rocky and Bullwinkle - I’m still traumatised 😂

Bansheed · 21/03/2023 11:16

The Emoji Movie. My son was devastated when it finished I announced "well that is time, I will never get back"

Bastard Smurfs Movie.

Ditto Alvin and the fucking Chipmunks.
Blair Witch Project.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

No, not the Smurfs Movie! I liked it, well them, as there are several films with Smurfs. In fact one of them I nearly had to switch it off as I was getting scared they would get hurt…….until I reminded myself that:
a) Gargamel never wins
and
b) IT’S NOT REAL!

silverbubbles · 21/03/2023 11:16

Recently saw Beast with Idris Elba - terrible.

Channellingsophistication · 21/03/2023 11:17

I love moulin rouge 🤣 but style is an acquired taste - music is beautiful

i hated The Favourite horrible film

Makingamess4212 · 21/03/2023 00:30

Thunder Force 😬 worst two hours of my life.

I so wanted to like this

PickleSarnie · 21/03/2023 11:18

Sex and the City 2 - I can't believe there was even talk of doing a third after that awful, offensive pile of tripe. And, to make it worse, it was an unbearable 2.5 hours long! I went with a friend and we both wanted to walk out of the cinema but stupidly didn't communicate that to each other so we endured it to the end.

Neededanewuserhandle · 21/03/2023 11:21

Black Rain.

I enjoyed Gravity for the comedy it is.

crossstitchingnana · 21/03/2023 11:21

Itsonlyagame · 21/03/2023 00:28

Gravity was an absolute load of shit. Ditto Blair Witch and Prometheus but Gravity was the worst.

🤣 love all these, especially Gravity.

LadyWindermeresOnlyFans · 21/03/2023 11:22

@Yarboosucks Rubber is GENIUS Grin

Notegoat · 21/03/2023 11:23

There Will Be Blood is an amazing film. It doesn’t deserve to be on here.
