You get a colour? I’m worried about toxins etc but have no childcare

🙄

Roselilly36 · 20/03/2023 17:27

No it’s not.

fruitbrewhaha · 20/03/2023 17:27

What happens if your baby needs feeding, or is upset for any reason?

Absolutely not!

MsRosewater · 20/03/2023 17:29

Not really no. But more for the sake of other customers (who may be having a break from their own kids) than toxins

EL8888 · 20/03/2023 17:29

No. Annoying for the hairdresser especially and the other customers. Either get childcare or cancel the appointment

TheSnailAndTheWaaaail · 20/03/2023 17:29

No I wouldn't say so. I go to the hairdressers to be pampered and wouldn't be impressed with a (potentially) screamy upset baby there.

I'm a mum myself (and only manage to get colour done about once a year due to childcare issues!)

BarbedButterfly · 20/03/2023 17:31

No, sorry. All my local hairdressers have signs up saying it isn't allowed. Maybe a mobile hairdresser?

btmediabox · 20/03/2023 17:32

Thanks all, I agree but a close friend does this regularly and I wanted to check!

DC is very predictable and wouldn’t cause a fuss but I guess it’s definitely a faff for other customers

People go to get their hair done as a treat and to relax. Your child is neither a treat nor relaxing for them.

Iam4eels · 20/03/2023 17:35

Depends on your hairdresser. I used a small, local salon who will happily schedule an appointment at a quieter time if needed and I would take my baby if I needed to. My DC aren't babies now but I wouldn't be horrified to find one in the hairdressers.

Hoppinggreen · 20/03/2023 17:36

No, and not because of toxins

Viviennemary · 20/03/2023 17:36

No I don't think so.

Skyeheather · 20/03/2023 17:38

It depends on the baby, at that age both of mine would have slurped on the boob or slept. The sound of my hairdryer used to put them both to sleep. Neither of them would have been any bother.

I never had any childcare to get my hair done either so I found a local mobile hairdresser who came to me. Baby did exactly as described above. Hairdresser didn't mind (I asked when I made my first appointment).

What happens if it craps and there's a leak or stench? Absolutely no.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 20/03/2023 17:45

The only way I’d ever think about this would be 9am, small salon. Even then it’d probably be a no.

Your close friend is being a selfish bitch. Feel free to pass this information on to her!

Tomkirkman · 20/03/2023 17:48

No, I wouldn’t.

the smell gives me headache.

and your 3 month can not be predictable in an environment they haven’t been in before

Flounder2022 · 20/03/2023 17:51

Apparently, amongst other things, I'm a selfish bitch, but I always brought my baby as I was BFing. When I could I'd ask my mam to accompany me so she could bring him off for a walk or whatever but this isn't always possible.

Not that I got my hair done that often when he was little mind you!

The same as what happens anywhere else you bring a baby.

InterestQ · 20/03/2023 17:52

find a mobile hairdresser instead

ferntwist · 20/03/2023 17:54

Of course! Part of the fun of being on maternity leave. When mine were that age they were either feeding or sleeping. I remember some ladies in a hairdresser held my daughter too. Don’t listen to some of the extreme comments on here

yogaretreat · 20/03/2023 17:55

There was a woman at the hairdressers I went to last week with a 4 week old. Baby seemed very happy. Fed and slept in her arms on and off.

Same!! My DD's used to come with me when they were babies and I was breastfeeding. I always asked first and my hairdresser didn't mind and loved a cuddle with baby. She'd seen me through pregnancy and when you see someone so often and for long colour appointments you become friends.

When they're young they just eat and sleep. When they're older and start moving it's hard work for everyone but as tiny babies it's not an issue in my experience. Do what you have to do. You deserve to feel nice and if having your hair done does that and your hairdresser doesn't mind then go for it.

LizzieSiddal · 20/03/2023 17:56

I wouldn’t mind at all if someone had a 3 month old with them and any hairdresser refusing would be breaking the law- breastfeeding mothers must not be refused a service because they have their baby with them.
@btmediabox phone a few hairdressers and tell them your situation, I’m sure some will be very willing to accommodate you.
