There were several shelves of inflated prices of coffee.. maybe one on offer which wasn't a great offer at all!

Co-Op prices are outrageous, unless they have an offer on something.

With coffee, I wait for my favourite to be on offer (not in the Co-Op) and then buy three jars.

It's a Co-Op, at which items are often more expensive due to it being a "convenience store".

You expect to pay a little more with it being a local convenience store, but the co op chain are huge with big profits made each year. I would expect to pay 50p more but these prices are eye watering! I feel like they are being greedy but maybe I'm being a misery guts 🙊

Coffee prices have rocketed. The offer price now was what the full price was (that you would never pay).

User47328976 · 16/03/2023 18:15

The 170g tins are £6.50 at the moment in Waitrose, that is still high though as that size was £5 on offer six months ago, I remember because I bought several tins as it was cheaper than other places so it has definitely gone up quite a bit.

ouch44 · 16/03/2023 18:17

I was also horrified at the price of coffee lately which reminded me of an article by Which magazine I'd read before comparing brands with supermarkets own for various things. I couldn't find the original article but found several others about coffee. It said Sainsbury’s own brand no 3 strength was best at around £3 / 100g. Could have gone up this week again though 😂
Let me see if I can find the article.

I keep looking longingly at magazines. Can't justify the price. Last week the one I wanted to buy was £6!!

LovedFedAndNoonesDead · 16/03/2023 18:19

I bought Nescafé Azeera 100g and Douwe Egburts golden roast 190g this week in B&M and paid £10.95 or thereabouts for them both (£6.95 DE and £4 Azeera) wouldn’t buy either in a mainstream supermarket as they are ridiculous prices.

KnittedCardi · 16/03/2023 18:19

£4 in Waitrose

Farmageddon · 16/03/2023 18:21

Love your nail varnish OP - is it Rouge Noir? (misses point of thread...)

Lovelynames123 · 16/03/2023 18:23

I only buy coffee when it's on offer, and often buy the aldi version which is nice. Would never pay £7.15 for 100g!

SpeedyMackechnie · 16/03/2023 18:25

I knew this was going to be Co-op. I also took a photo of the coffee the other day as I couldn't believe my eyes!!

SpeedyMackechnie · 16/03/2023 18:26

I don't consider the Coop a supermarket - it's a convenience store and so expect it to be more pricey. Yesterday I was ordering coffee - usually get Gold Blend as I only occasionally use instant and it was 8.20 for 200g !!! What?? I bought Sainsbo own Gold at 2.39 - as I said it is a rare use as we use Nespresso normally . It actually makes my pods look better value than I thought they were as they have got pricey too.

earsup · 16/03/2023 18:29

I used to buy that when it was £2.50, now its about £5...sometimes B and M have it for £3 but i now get the nice aldi or lidl costa rican one and its nicer, cost is £2.09.

jumpingjenn3h · 16/03/2023 18:30

Even the offers don't seem that amazing anymore.. like a previous poster has written, the offers are now what full priced/convenience store prices used to be!

My baby is due In a few weeks so I will need to be drowning in the stuff to keep me awake 🤣 god damn inflation 🤣

I'm glad its not just me that was surprised enough to take a photo.. I can honestly say I have never done that before 😅 I'm usually relatively laidback about increase in prices but I was horrified when I saw it was most coffee brands on the shelf and actually I needed coffee for an afternoon meeting, poor planning by me!

User47328976 · 16/03/2023 18:46

The offers are like the old full price

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 16/03/2023 18:48

I buy the Aldi version for convenience coffees and ground in a moka pot which works out both cheaper and nicer most days. I wouldn't pay that. Crazy money.

purser25 · 16/03/2023 19:12

Coop own brand coffee is good as is M&S

EmmaGrundyForPM · 16/03/2023 19:15

It's currently £6.49 in my local Tesco. It's the only instant coffee I'm prepared to drink, but I usually wait til it's on special offer

SpeedyMackechnie · 16/03/2023 23:02

I'm not normally a photo-taker in a supermarket (or convenience store 😁) either, but my husband was in the car, otherwise I would have dragged him into the aisle to see it with his own eyes 🤣

NailsForBreakfastTacksForSnacks · 16/03/2023 23:29

I buy beans from Costco, mostly the Kirkland Starbucks ones. They were about £8 a bag last time I bought them before Christmas but were £14 something the other week.
Probably worth it though, I’m not pleasant un caffeinated.

AlwaysLatte · 16/03/2023 23:32

That's bonkers. I pay £2.80 for proper filter coffee. You've been ripped off!

I’d buy the multipack from Amazon shown upthread as it works out the best value!!

Nimbostratus100 · 17/03/2023 08:09

that is too much!
