Trans women are women, not men, remember?

You know what you were implying!

emmathedilemma · 15/03/2023 14:56

That's the whisky equivalent of petrol station flowers

FruityLittleDrink · 15/03/2023 15:05

I got sent a 10% off voucher for a big bag of flour as a mother's day promotion. I can't imagine my mum wants 16kg of flour 😀

WaggyTailsWetNoses · 15/03/2023 15:46

It's true, not all mums do want flowers.

But if my kids bought me supermarket blended whiskey, instead of my ususal Jura, I'd be wondering what I'd done to offend them.

Don’t blame me for your transphobic comment! You automatically excluded trans women from your comment ‘only women’! Which means you think they’re men. That’s on you.

Theraffarian · 15/03/2023 15:57

I might be a bit picky about which variety , but it’s my drink of choice to , makes a change from assuming all mums like Prosecco.

MysteryBelle · 15/03/2023 15:57

Meant ‘only men’, you put trans women into category of men, that’s on you.

GoodChat · 15/03/2023 15:57

@MysteryBelle the laughing emoji you posted before the trans comment says everything we need to know about your intent. Don't try and palm that off onto others.

Oh no you don’t. That poster basically said that trans women are men and you are condoning that.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 15/03/2023 16:00

Well, that escalated quickly. Well done, Waitrose.

GoodChat · 15/03/2023 16:01

@MysteryBelle and you suggested that only trans women drink whisky. Why would that be the case?

GoodChat · 15/03/2023 16:01

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 15/03/2023 16:00

Well, that escalated quickly. Well done, Waitrose.

I hope their PR department created this thread Grin

midgemadgemodge · 15/03/2023 16:01

But transwomen are men that's the only way they can be transwomen?

Not sure what it's got to do with whiskey though

And happy to take care of any bottles received by women who don't like it

NotAnotherBathBomb · 15/03/2023 16:04

MysteryBelle · 15/03/2023 13:57

It’s aimed at the ever growing trans women demographic.

Mumsnet will never cease to amaze me with the ability to make everything about trans people

QWERTTY · 15/03/2023 16:20

I’m a mum and I love whiskey. I don’t want flowers or chocolates but I’d be stoked if someone gave me a good peaty, smokey single malt.

Doesthepopeshitinthewoods · 15/03/2023 16:24

I’d much rather a bottle of single malt than a bottle of wine.

Doesthepopeshitinthewoods · 15/03/2023 16:26

I’m not a trans woman though, just have Scottish blood.

Florissant · 15/03/2023 16:28

Transwomen are not women. They are men. This is a belief protected under the Equality Act.

TenoringBehind · 15/03/2023 16:47

Only on MN could people take offence at this.

I thought it was funny, even though it wouldn’t be my drink of choice.

ssd · 15/03/2023 16:52

Id rather have flowers

EggyBreads · 15/03/2023 17:10

Funny ad. And yes I would prefer booze to flowers Gin

Newestname002 · 15/03/2023 17:14

I prefer Calvados... 🌹

MissingMoominMamma · 15/03/2023 13:59

So only men drink whisky?

In terms of the target market and most typical buyer of whisky then pretty much yes.

Some women drink it yes, but the majority of drinkers of it are men.

HelloBunny · 15/03/2023 17:18

The gin thing is a bit obvious now.
