We are looking to move to Norfolk area, currently no children but planning to TTC in the next 2 years. Top budget 380k. Any suggestions please?

@MinnieMountain we live in Downham Market. Moved here for convenience for commuting to Cambridge and have gradually fallen in love with the area. Love the wetlands, the riverbanks, proximity to the coast, train in to Cambridge and London. Yes it is a bit sleepy but there is life to be had if you look for it.

Schools are ok. Good primary school, at least we were happy with it. I don't have much to compare the secondary school to other than friends whose children board at Wyndham college, which seems like another world! But we and most of our friends have sent our children to the secondary school here and it seems alright.

Kings Lynn is ok too actually I think. We go regularly to the majestic cinema and there are quite a lot of cultural events on in town.

We head up to the coast a lot in all weathers... Hunstanton, old Hunstanton, Sheringham. Love it. We also cycle back in to the fens in the summer. I am sure that there are far more beautiful places to live but I commute now to London to work and I love it there, but I am very happy to step off the train and breath the air when I get home to Norfolk again.

@Bemyclementine and @And155 just saw your posts 😊

Yes I live in Hertfordshire the roads are appalling, lots of votes for Norwich on here and just driving to the beach if you want a day out my plan was to walk to it, but if I leave it any longer I will be too old with my arthritis taking a hold now

Needs to be somewhere that's got some socialising going on for me but not too busy at the same time, so happy medium, thanks for everyone’s advice on here it’s really helpful

This is a very old thread. I assume the OP has moved already. I personally wouldn’t move anywhere in Norfolk that will have to rely on sea level rise defences in decades to come. On all the prediction maps, it makes King’s Lynn look like it is going to be under water!
