fish pie?

Because DH won't eat potatoes. In fact the only carb he really likes is couscous, but he will, at a push, eat noodles etc.

Anyone got any ideas what I should make for dinner with a fish pie mix ie salmon, cod, prawns and something else. Have a fridge full of veg.

Muchas gracias amigas

Fish risotto

NoSquirrels · 10/03/2023 17:02

I’d make some sort of Asian-style seafood broth with noodles.

Or a seafood tagine with cous cous?

It’s so weirdly specific, only liking cous cous!

Fish/seafood Tagine with baguette
Fish/seafood Curry with naan

About to tuck into DH's seafood lasagne. Try that.

Brazilian fish stew - its tomato based and has coconut milk in it.

Would he go for something like carrot and swede or butternut squash cooked and mashed on top?

BruceAndNosh · 10/03/2023 17:06

I make fish pie from this recipe
realfood.tesco.com/recipes/jos-showstopper-fish-pie.html
It has a cauliflower topping instead of potato and its delish.
I normally add some frozen peas

MoneyInTheBananaStand · 10/03/2023 17:06

Fish pie with crumble topping? I've done that before, very nice with a bit of cheese rubbed in

MissMarplesGoddaughter · 10/03/2023 17:06

Make a white sauce, mix in the fish mixture and use to fill pancakes.

MudLady · 10/03/2023 17:07

Fish & noodles with soy sauce & vegetables.

Fish cakes. You can substitute beans for potatoes if you need to.

Wowser, I wasn't expecting so many answers to my dull question!

I'm spoiled for choice now but thinking the asian soup thing sounds excellent and relatively low calorie.

Thanks all

Hairy bikers have a recipe for a fish crumble in the hairy dieters book. Basically a fish pie with cous cous topping. It’s really nice! lemonandcheese.blogspot.com/2017/03/fish-crumble.html?m=1

QuietlyConfident · 10/03/2023 17:19

The obvious answer is a pastry-topped fish pie.

If your DS doesn't like that then crunched up filo pastry on top of pies is nice (also Hairy Dieters). www.hairybikers.com/recipes/view/chicken-and-ham-tangle-pie

Fish curry is delicious! Some sort of Moroccan fish tagine. Kebabs.

Chowder

HMTheQueenMuffin · 10/03/2023 17:30

My favourite thing to do is make a white sauce; add some mild curry powder and ther fish then wrap it all up in puff pastry as a sort of pasty thing.

Once in Australia I had from a normal regular bakery a 'creamy curried scallop pie'. I have never ever forgotten it. Bloody awesome it was.
