Who is in the wrong?

frozenicicles · 09/03/2023 18:28

Teacher A has been looking for a set of books all term and had asked everyone if they had them. No one had.

Teacher B is furious because Teacher A got them from her cupboard after she had left for the evening.

A doesn't think she's done anything wrong and B is fuming.

Did the books belong to

School
Teacher A
Teacher B

MadeForThis · 09/03/2023 18:29

Who owns the books? Was the cupboard locked? Is it normal practice to enter someone's classroom and take something you need?

Ravageur · 09/03/2023 18:29

did B steal them?

did A know they were in the cupboard?

etc etc

we need more info

frozenicicles · 09/03/2023 18:31

The books belong to the school.
The cupboard was not locked, but it isn't admittedly the done thing to take something from someone's classroom cupboard.
I don't know how A knew they were there.

Why is B angry? Had A asked B if B had them? Did A message B to let them know she'd taken them? Did B need them?

frozenicicles · 09/03/2023 18:34

A asked B if she had them and B said no, she hadn't seen them.
A didn't message or tell her.

Presumably you're B?

frozenicicles · 09/03/2023 18:36

No, I am a genuine nosey bystander.

Skintmamba · 09/03/2023 18:36

Ohh good grief, both need to pack it in and consider how they would advise the children to resolve an issue like this.

Presumably they are books for the students? So they should be accessible to whoever needs to use them to teach / support the students.

frozenicicles · 09/03/2023 18:36

I actually think B's more in the wrong.

OP posts:
iklboo · 09/03/2023 18:36

Why did B say she didn't have them when she did?

AltheaVestr1t · 09/03/2023 18:37

Why did B lie about knowing where the books were? They are both in the wrong. But B was in the wrong first!

Theunamedcat · 09/03/2023 18:37

Why did B lie? Why not say yes but I need them im using them yadda yadda Why lie and say no ive not got them I've not seen them

They are real teachers right? Not teenagers? Siblings?

This is very true. No drama like staffroom drama.

B should be reported for hording and withholding resources, if I have understood correctly

frozenicicles · 09/03/2023 18:38

Real teachers although quite young.

Just wanted to check it's definitely that A and B are teachers and not pre -school children? Sounds pathetic.

Is B just angry she got caught out for being a liar?

In that case, fair play. Not ideal having to look through another teacher’s cupboard but it sounds like B either didn’t know they were in there or was hiding them.

zurala · 09/03/2023 18:40

Unless B was deliberately hiding them, then her reaction should have been "I had no idea they were there! Glad you've found them".

And if she hid them deliberately then WTAF?

How is A pathetic? All A seems to have done is try to locate some lost books by asking colleagues, and then retrieve said books from a cupboard. That all seems fine to me.

B seems to be the one with the weird issue. If they knew the books were there she should have said when asked. If she didn't, who cares if A has retrieved the books. B now has more space in her cupboard and A has the books they need. Surely a win win?!?

if the books belong to the school, then B needs to be up on a disciplinary

But are you sure they belong to the school? The only way B's behaviour makes any sense is if they had bought the books out of their own money
