a colleague will not put her phone on silent ( in case of emergency) but will leave in her bag and every times it rings and it’s often a cold call she will leap in the air in panic to turn the phone off .
I’ve said leave it on vibrate , leave it on your desk so you can turn it off quicker but no . She never answers it and grumbles that it’s cold calls .
I’m not bothered about the phone ringing but this leaping up in panic and a mad scramble for her phone makes me want to hit her with her daft phone .
why not leave on your desk or stop panicking every time it rings I don’t get it .
i know it has no effect on my life but I’m worried she may have a panic induced heart attack ( I’m joking ) .
share with me lighthearted irritations that you have.

@flutterbyebaby That's just an accent. We can't help that lol

It's a rather nice accent

anotherNameJustForThis · 09/03/2023 10:15

People who park right next to my car in an almost empty car park.

Why? Why would they do this when there are 300 unused spaces? 🤬

fairylies · 09/03/2023 10:16

People who block entrances, exits, paths so their little darlings can touch things and learn exploring, meanwhile a massive queue forms behind but as long as we don't disturb those exploring we can wait patiently whilst carrying heavy shopping.

I have a friend who did this and when I questioned her on why, her explanation was that it's easier to park next to another car?? weird.

My husband is also annoying in this respect, we drive into a car park, lots of free spaces but no, he has to drive around and eventually find the "perfect" spot in the furthest possible location - drives me mad

@Notsurewhattodo29 they aren't, they're tacky.

I must be tacky then 😍😍

Topbird29 · 09/03/2023 10:23

People who go out of a shop door and then just stop to chat - move out of the bloody way. Especially when more than 2. Or.just stop near shop doors in general to chat/faff. Not like anyone might want to go or out!

Tidsleytiddy · 09/03/2023 10:23

Charliescat · 08/03/2023 19:11

People who get up to go and leave then hang around for ages particularly colleagues if you are needing a bit of a breather from them

Oh yes! Yes. Yes. Yes. Hurry up and piss off

TommyShelby · 09/03/2023 10:24

People who ring into the radio. I can just about put up with djs (although I’d prefer 100% music) but Donna ringing up to tell us all about the night out she’s going on with Sharon and Tracey make me want to punch the radio.

ArabellaScott · 09/03/2023 10:26

Anyone's eating noises, ever.

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 09/03/2023 10:26

Asking someone if they'd like a cup of tea or coffee, and they say only if you're making one.
If I don't make it you can't have it 😡

Rachie1973 · 09/03/2023 10:27

People who write ‘discusting’ instead of disgusting.

I don’t know why, I see a million typos/spelling mistakes in a week through work but that one for some reason grates above all others.

Those flesh toned leggings. I’m not wearing them so why they bother me is anyone’s guess.

People that ‘mmmmm’ as they eat. I once had a son in law that did it, all the way through a meal.

paulhollywoodshairgel · 09/03/2023 10:33

People who sit in the aisle seat on the bus so no one can sit down.. and then don't move. Also applies to people who put their bags on the spare seat and don't move them.

Also people who vape/smoke near other people.. go away!

This is such a twatty mn reply.

A lighthearted reply to someone who clearly has issues with other Mums. Why judge a Mum for wearing make up and doing housework? I dont care what anyone does in their own home 🤷🏼‍♀️

LadyMargaretDevereux · 09/03/2023 10:35

People who have a verbal tic like saying 'to be fair' after every sentence, or 'if you know what I mean'. I can't listen to anything they say as I'm waiting for that.

StBernie · 09/03/2023 10:38

I used to sit next to a colleague that ended every phone conversation with his wife with “Bye, bye, buh buh bye buh bye buh bye” (I think you have to hear it out loud to get how it’s said) but it really irritated me that he couldn’t just say one firm “bye” and end the call.

SecondClassmyass · 09/03/2023 10:39

It’s been mentioned before but also a ‘meal’ 😵‍💫. He’s taking me out for a meal …
Typically used by the same person who calls sparking wine ‘fizz’ (also cringe) and describes nice(?) things as being ‘lush’. Sorry no offence to anyone, but just stop. ☺️

Muu · 09/03/2023 10:43

Grumpy fuckers in my crafts group who don’t like beginners.

also, unrelated but, @SlightlyJaded you find Facebook usable these days? Every time I log in it seems to be 10 ads or “content” to each actual update from my friends. I must be missing out on so many sprained ankles.

The point of the thread is that it’s irrational things that don’t affect you, though! I have an East Midlands accent, say lunch and dinner and have also been known to go out for a ‘meal’, all of which have been criticised above, but what’s the point of being defensive on a thread about irrational irritations!

Ireallycantthinkofagoodone · 09/03/2023 10:45

People who end every sentence with “does that make sense”? Arrggh - I am so tempted to respond “no, perhaps you had better explain”.

People who, having queued for some time in a café, wait until it’s their turn to order before deciding what they require.

People who reach the top of an escalator, and don’t move off speedily.

People who add the suffix ‘ness’ onto words, instead of using the correct term.

True, point taken.

Back to the housework…in my make up! 😂

Dalekjastninerels · 09/03/2023 10:50

Adults having LOUD CONVERSATIONS in public. Keep your fucking voice down for Fuck Sake. No- one gives a flying fuck what you think, I certainly don't wnat to hear you.

Crumpleton · 09/03/2023 10:52

Not read all the posts so may be duplicating.

People that put their shopping on the cash out belts in supermarkets then sod off to fetch other items they've forgotten.

2023Hope · 09/03/2023 10:53

How people use a blue heart on social media when referring to a male - irrational I know but I find it annoying and don’t get it 😂

Elsiebear90 · 09/03/2023 10:53

People that think they own the road in front of their house (maybe this isn’t irrational, but it winds me up)

When people pap their car horns when leaving someone’s house

When people do exaggerated noises when they yawn or sneeze

People that stand in entrances to buildings or the bottom/top of stairs etc to have a chat or look around bewildered, move out of the way!

Humble bragging on Facebook, especially about how much people love and value their partners/mums etc no one cares, seems like overcompensating

Those stupid oversized bows people put on baby girls’ heads

Pierced ears on babies

Taking pictures of dying relatives for Facebook, gross

Wishing people that don’t even have Facebook happy birthday on Facebook

2023Hope · 09/03/2023 10:53

Oh and people who want to ‘loose’ weight 😱
