Was watching TOTP and thought I'd check what was toppermost of the poppermost when I turned 18 and omg.

On my 18th it was block rockin beats by the chemical brothers (am assuming now it was the same for you 🤣)

The drugs don’t work by The Verve, which is ironic as they really were working for me at the time #raver

Mine is something called Shout For England by Dizzee Rascal and James Cordon (wtf) and the picture is of football fans so can only assume the same 😅

I've just had a look at some of the number ones from the year I was 18,(1981( and there are some brilliant ones. Tainted Love by Soft Cell,Don't you want me by the Human League and Every little thing she does is magic by The Police,to name but a few. The one that was number one on my actual birthday was It's my Party by Barbara Gaskin and Dave Stewart which I really like too.
