Where can I find a good condensed version of the Game Of Thrones for DC?

Odd one but DC have been asking about it but I am not keen on them watching it as there is too much of it and they are too young really. Is there a Complete Works Of Shakespeare type visual resource in existence which conveys the plot, location, dynamics well? Thanks

And apologies if my request offends the hardcore fans!

How old are they?

namechange8621 · 02/03/2023 17:04

KS1 2

What? Why can't you just say how old they are?

grayhairdontcare · 02/03/2023 17:05

Is that age 7??

grayhairdontcare · 02/03/2023 17:05

If so then it's really not age appropriate

WunWun · 02/03/2023 17:06

There is no way this is real.

user1471447924 · 02/03/2023 17:06

Just tell them no. It’s not hard. 🙄

TrombonesAreNotBones · 02/03/2023 17:07

Okay still none the wiser - 'KS 1 2', I am guessing primary age, whatever. I cba with this guessing, cheers, enjoy your evening.

Highlyflavouredgravy · 02/03/2023 17:07

You want a version of game of thrones for your primary aged children?
It is an adult book series and tv show. Very, very adult.
It is completely inappropriate for children.

I am just....wtf?

RiktheButler · 02/03/2023 17:07

I wouldn't allow under 11s to even have a closed copy of the books. They are incredibly violent and sexual - and very very long. They are not even remotely written for children, even in the style of the narrative

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 02/03/2023 17:08

Even a condensed version is inappropriate unless you are keen on explaining

Incest
Rape
Prostitution
Torture
Forced marriage
Reanimated corpses
And Politically motivated murder

To your 7 year old

AllTangledUpInThisTango · 02/03/2023 17:09

Really? Your children have been asking about it and you can’t work out for yourself that the answer to that is just a plain hard no?

Hmm
namechange8621 · 02/03/2023 17:09

Sorry, I meant 12 upwards not sure where KS came in from ! A mature 12 year old who has already watched some grown up series already.
If there is nothing, then that is fine. I was just asking as I have not watched it myself.

OP posts:
LemonySippet · 02/03/2023 17:09

No. It's absolutely not appropriate for key stage 1, or 2, or 3, and probably not 4. I'm also pretty sure it hasn't been abridged anywhere, but maybe you could read the parental guide on imdb and see why it's not appropriate, or the episode guides, or look at up on Wikipedia and make you own mind up. Maybe you could even read it yourself and then tell them about it. Or maybe in doing so you'd realise why it's not appropriate.

WakeMeUpInspring · 02/03/2023 17:10

Bloody hell. I'm pretty unshockable and I was shocked at the violence, incest and rape scenes. Your 7 year old can't watch.

PeekAtYou · 02/03/2023 17:10

It's not suitable at all.

If they like medieval themes then watch something like Merlin
If they like dragons then the Marvel film
Shang-Chi and the Five Rings is exciting enough for someone in upper primary.
If they want something scary then see if there's any Dr Who set it in time period. That's written with an over 7 audience in mind.

namechange8621 · 02/03/2023 17:11

Ok I really get it now. The answer is no I suppose. Thanks.

OP posts:
EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 02/03/2023 17:11

There isn't an "explicit content free" version in either book or TV form, it would basically be impossible to achieve

PeekAtYou · 02/03/2023 17:12

GoT isn't suitable for age 12. there is full front nudity, beheadings....

AllTangledUpInThisTango · 02/03/2023 17:12

I really think you need to watch it first before you engage with your 12 year old any further on this. Or read the tomes.

In the meantime my answer would be absolutely not, you are too young.

Rainbowshit · 02/03/2023 17:13

GoT is very adult content.

namechange8621 · 02/03/2023 17:14

I do get it and I may read it now that I have been made aware. They claimed their school friends had been watching it so I wasn't aware.

OP posts:
EllieQ · 02/03/2023 17:15

There are some fantasy books written for adults that would be suitable for a 12 year old (Lord of the Rings being the most obvious suggestion), but GoT (books or series) is not.

DPotter · 02/03/2023 17:24

Full frontal nudity is the tame side of GoT lets be honest. There's very graphic sex, castrations, burning alive, rapes, poisonings, eaten alive, throat slitting - lots of throat slittings.

There isn't an "explicit content free" version in either book or TV form, it would basically be impossible to achieve

well you could just show the opening and closing credits I suppose.

Either your child's friends are having her on, or their parents haven't realised the graphic nature of the show. Don't get me wrong - I love GoT, but definitely not for a young teen
