I'm crying at 9:45 AM because someone found my keys

Just that really. On Monday I lost my keys which consisted of three keys to the house, my car and my garage. A work fob-key and my keychain with my name and address on them. Someone's stuck them in an envelope, posted them through my door with a note that explained they found them but before they could get to me I was gone, in the note they said they were sorry they couldn't have gotten them to me sooner and that they didn't want anything for returning them, just the satisfaction of knowing they did a good deed.

I've never been more grateful for a kind stranger before.

I think I need to go lay down now, maybe cry a bit.

I'm emotional, doesn't help being 36 weeks pregnant 🤣🤣

Hey guys, how ya'll doing?

Very kind of someone to do this.

But please don't have your name address and phone number on your keys. Just phone number is probably ok, but the rest is a burglar's wet dream.

A neighbour of my late dad did this. Lost their keys and had a phone call. Local school - one of their pupils had found them in the street near their house and handed them to a teacher - could she come and pick them up from the school office? Off she toddled, and in the 20 minutes she was away, her house was ransacked while she tried explain to a bewildered school secretary why she was asking for a set of house keys.

You put your address on your keys! This is a wind-up thread

I would have and have cried when I've found my keys! I dropped mine and I was beside myself, ringing around everywhere, thinking what I could do next. I found outside on the street and I cried.

You at least have pregnancy hormones to blame. Mine was just sheer relief!

Did they really write the schmaltzy note? 🤔

I lost my phone in Italy , only realized when we were miles away and couldn't go back that day. I rang it, someone had found it and answered who spoke a little English and he took it to a attraction ticket office so I could collect it next day. There are lots of good people our there but we only tend to hear about the bad ones !

That's really kind of that person, warms your cockles.

I get the horrors at the thought losing my work key, hell would rein down on my head by security.

NC as regular poster and not seeking any glory, just demonstrating the impact of little gestures.

I got a letter through my letterbox at the same time as the post disruption was going on a few weeks back. Wrong address and clearly a birthday card as someone had written 'no opening until x date' which was the next day. Address was quite similar to mine but about five miles away. I recognised it because my DC used to do sports nearby. I was about to post it in a box with 'delivered to wrong address' when I thought that the houses in the street I recognised were all very small bungalows that would most likely have elderly residents. I started to think maybe it was an elderly person and could be only one of a few cards they would get so I just got in the car, drove there and posted it through the box. An elderly lady popped her head round the door and I thought I'd best explain as I don't look like the postman. The lady said it was her sister's writing who was in a care home and that she would have gone to a lot of trouble to get the card for her and have it posted. She said she wouldn't be seeing any family on her birthday and her cards meant so much. I said it was no problem at all and left. I knew there was a florist just round the corner so I bought a nice bunch of tulips and wrote on the card - Happy Birthday from your new postie. Have a lovely day - and handed them in to her before driving home. She was almost in tears and said people doing things like I did made her so happy and she never ceased to be amazed at how much goodness was in the world, even at ninety. I felt warm and fuzzy all day too.

That's lovely 🙂

I recall many many years ago losing the car keys at Southport Flower Show, obviously my fault as he who had lost the keys hadn't wanted to go in the first place! We called in to the Lost Property marquee with no hope, wondering how much it would cost us to call a garage etc., and there they were, someone had handed them in!
I lost my prescription sunglasses on a ride at Disneyworld, we were told to try the Lost Property next day as when the Park closes the areas under the rides are trawled for lost property. Next day we were astounded to see there was a massive office with all a huge amount of stuff filed under ride and date. My sunglasses were there.

I left my purse on top of my car at a petrol station years ago. My driving licence was in there. My mum phoned me a couple of hours later... turned out an older couple had found my purse on the forecourt and got my address from the licence. Obviously my mum said thank you, but didn't take any details. I wish I could have thanked them properly.. All my cards etc. were in there and I'd have been screwed if they were lost. I only carry necessary cards now though.

Ah that's kind of the person to send them
Not key related but still a vital item
Last weekend someone stole my Walker from the communal hallway where it had been safely for 5 years
Without it I couldn't walk far enough to look for it
I posted on local " spotted in.." FB page to see if anyone had seen it
An hour later I got a message to say a man had one to give me, and brought it to me 5 minutes later!
My faith in humanity was restored that day
