I'm 40 and I don't know what colour my eyes are! Photos

I've always thought green, but a thread last night made me think grey.

Or are they both?

Good job I've not had to give a formal description of myself to anyone - I'd sound a right numpty not knowing!

Another 40 year old who doesn’t know what colour their eyes are, I normally say green!

Mine on the other hand I say "greeny brown" or "Hazel" as its easier...

@Dontstepinthecowpat yours look grey but it might just be the photo? @Dipsydoodlenoodle your right eye looks brown and your left eye looks more grey/green! Again might just be the photo.

Can I join in? I’m over 40 and have always said my eyes are brown but looking at a recent photo I’m not so sure…

Your eyes are beautiful OP! They’re what I call a chameleon grey. In sunlight you’ll see the sunflower halo around your eyes and the distinctive differences between blue and gold, in darker light they look true grey. Dressed up with green eyeshadow they’ll pull blue, with blue eyeliner they’ll bring out the green. I have a family member with these eyes and I adore them (and doing makeup for them)!

I once did this on MN and simple people waded in saying the brown flecks in my green eyes meant I had a horrible liver disease they hoped I was aware of

Do it did not go as I hoped. Kept being told to go see a doctor

Since we are all posting photos of our eyes, what colour would people say mine are?

I usually put 'green' if required, but they're a very dark sort of green. They've also got weird sort of yellow veins like you'd see in piece of marble. And a brown bit. Is this hazel?

@Mannymoomin I'd say yours are more of a true hazel? Brownish ring, greenish middle and a grey edge ...

@Mannymoomin You also appear to have freckles on the irises which I believe are basically the same build up of melanin that causes freckles on the skin. Do you freckle in the sun?

Mine are green but have an amber ring which doesn't photo well!
Weirdly my mum had brown eyes and my dad has v pale blue

I mentioned up thread that I thought OP's eyes were 'warm' grey. There are so many shade variations within one colour. Anyway, here are my very definitely grey eyes, which are on the cooler end of the spectrum with a bit of blue. Please excuse unkempt eyebrows😅

Blue-hazel. They're a dark blue but with brown centres. So I'd say blue-hazel.

@Mannymoomin I have it too! I only learned it was a thing a few months ago, I thought mine were just hazel.

You have heterochromia - the outside ring is blue and the inner is green/brown. Technically it would make your eyes green/blue but actually they appear grey.

Mine are hazel, with brown round the iris and green outer ring. I always thought I had heterochromia, but the Eye Hospital told me I don't 😆. I think heterochromia is a very particular condition

@Cullher they're the same colour as mine - grey/blue/green dependingbon the light and (allegedly) my mood. When I was a teenager I read a book with a character that had eyes like this and they were described as "chameleon grey" which I liked, so have used ever since. 🙂

I feel slightly better knowing that my eye colour isn't clear cut.

I don't feel qualified to comment on other peoples' colours given my forty years of error, but can I say that seeing all these close up pics of eyes is lovely. We don't often look that closely, but when we so, every eye is beautiful!

I am not sure about that central heterochromia thing. But I loved the description by @hopingforadvice of my eyes looking like a sunflower in the centre!

Any advice on taking pics of eyes without the phone reflection in them btw?

Exactly the same colour as my ds.....grey! Although in some lights his can look green!

@funnyoldonion I'd (now) say grey with cool blue tones. Serious looking eyes!
