It's a power thing (really!) - try to get as many orange starter letters and a crossover at once as possible, so that you get multiple doublings. In todays daily it took a bit of planning and downright luck with the letters to get two crosses each, one with 3 orange letters and the other with two. The rest were just 3x3s and four letter words to stop the board clogging up.

Not sure how to link the result (I try but fail). I just got a good crossover:

Amazon x Apnoea = 292

Then the issue I have is keeping those lines free, which means I have four very small squares so I am getting lots of 3 letter words with 7 or 8 points. This dilutes the total down. Logically we cannot get a three word crossover (unless I miss the point), so it must come down to luck with multiples.

It is also frustrating those words that I have never heard of before which seem to be OK. Just go with it I guess.

Urgh tried so hard to get lots of multipliers in one set of crossed words, and I managed (200 points for that one set) that but fucked up the rest of it in the process. But now I just realised it was on the practice not the daily so phew, can try again.

Going for lots of multipliers has the risk of ending up with just the dregs if the right letters don't come up, but I've just done a practice which had a crossover with four orange letters in it. None of the letters was particularly high value
