For those who were born in their due date….

Not quite a thread about a thread but another thread got me thinking:-

I was born on my due date. Only about 4% of babies are.

Whenever I tell people about it (rarely but I did when we were all having babies as quite relevant then…) people always comment that I would be as it fits my personality. (I’m very logical, organised, detail oriented and slightly obsessive.)

Obviously a clear case of confirmation bias but just interested to know the personalities of other due date babies…..

Really glad I set up this thread - answers are entertaining and appropriately random and bizarre!

I was born on my due date, but as this was the 70s it was a very approximate guess by the doctor.

To be honest, even with scans it's a best guess.

So, yes I continue to be "approximately" on time in life 😉

BogRollBOGOF · 28/02/2023 13:07

There's a lot of due date babies in my family, and those that weren't were within a few days. Timekeeping is not one of our natural skills.

I'm not sure any of mine actually had a properly confirmed due date. The dates were always approximate and changed along the way.
So meaningless really 🤷‍♀️

Mylittlesandwich · 28/02/2023 13:23

I was 5 weeks early, I do like to be early for things now. Not 5 weeks typically and deadlines are always met by the skin of my teeth.

TulipTuesday · 28/02/2023 13:26

Both of my DS were born on their due dates. DS1 (21) is pretty organised and on time for things.

DS2 (17) however is always running late, has zero concept of time and needs a rocket up his arse to get anything done.

Latenightreader · 28/02/2023 13:29

My DD was born on her due date, which was also my birthday. She's not old enough to start organising herself yet, but she does worry sometimes about being late.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 28/02/2023 13:35

DS was born on his due date (he is 7) and is a strict rule follower but has no concept of time and is quite dreamy in personality. So mixed 😂

AllAboutMargot · 28/02/2023 13:39

My DS was 10 days late and he's never been on time for anything since. He's now 40.

handsoffate · 28/02/2023 13:48

Eldest dc was. They’re chronically disorganised and habitually ignore deadlines. But I strongly suspect these traits are inherited from me and dp!

NatMoz · 28/02/2023 13:51

I was born on my due date and always on time for everything.

My husband told work that if our baby girl was born on her due date, the way his paternity and Christmas would fall he'd have 4 weeks off work in total. They laughed at him and said it would never happen...of course she was born on due date🤣

icebearforpresident · 28/02/2023 13:58

I wasn’t but my mum & her cousin were both pregnant at the same time. I was due on the 10th of the month, cousins baby on the 15th. I ended up being born on the 15th and cousins baby on the 10th. I’m forever grateful the cousins baby arrived first because it turned out my mum and her cousin both liked the same terrible name which I hate. Cousins baby got the name and I got a better, although still classic 80’s, name.

As an adult I’m incredibly forgetful and chasing my tail constantly so suppose I fit the stereotype.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 28/02/2023 14:00

Forgot to say that I was 16 days late and hate being late now!

CoodleMoodle · 28/02/2023 14:25

I was born on my due date!

With DD I was given two due dates, first from my dates, then from her size during a scan. I went into labour on the original due date, she was born early the next day. It was a very long labour but if it had been shorter she would've been born on the "right" day.

DS was born at 38wks, in 20 minutes. DD says it's because he just couldn't wait to meet her Wink

ThreeLittleDots · 28/02/2023 14:41

Anyone born approx 37-42 weeks is perfectly on time. There's no scientific basis for a 'due date'... but for fun I was 41+ weeks and am quite lazy.

fairtrauchled · 28/02/2023 15:41

I was born over 3 weeks past my due date(the medical team let you go longer past due date way back then).I'm always early or on time for everything.I hate having to rush or being late.DC1 was 4 days overdue and DC2 was 3days past their due date

Lostinlancs · 28/02/2023 15:45

I was born on my due date, as was my DB and this was only because my mum was really irresponsible and drank a shed load of castor oil to have us as she was “sick of being pregnant” she said.

We both have ADHD and DB ASD.

TheNoodlesIncident · 28/02/2023 16:12

daffodilandtulip · 28/02/2023 07:38

DD was born on the date I initially worked out from my missed period/pregnancy test. The date the scan/midwife said was a week later.

Similar, but DS was two weeks late by scans prediction, on time by my LMP date.

They made a big deal over his going over their due date, which I found maddening since that 4% is not what would be considered a pass mark by any means. Why don't they do it "expected week commencing"? That would make it more accurate.

I've no idea whether I was on time or not, but I did get out before DTwin which might indicate a bossier nature..? That would be accurate

Patchworksack · 28/02/2023 16:16

My oldest son born on his due date is calm, organised, punctual. Second son also on due date could not be more opposite! I had decided my babies are always born right on time when DD pitched up 3 weeks early…..

CherieBabySpliffUp · 28/02/2023 16:23

Going off on a tangent and I also have no medical training but for those of you who had your babies on their due dates how long were your cycles? My cycles were around 38 days and my DD was late. I wonder if length of cycle is relevant? And if women with longer cycles should be allowed to go a bit longer than 42 weeks before being induced.

Deadringer · 28/02/2023 16:31

Isn't due date an educated guess though, so fairly meaningless? I imagine in most cases babies come exactly when they are supposed too. My first baby was a week late according to the date of my last period, but she was born exactly 40 weeks after she was conceived. (The only time I had unprotected sex).

ALongHardWinter · 28/02/2023 16:54

I was 9 days late apparently, due on 30th September, arrived on 9th October. My Dd was 4 days early. I was well surprised,as so many people told me that first borns are ALWAYS late!

DistrictCommissioner · 28/02/2023 16:56

I was born on my due date. I’m always late for things.

ALongHardWinter · 28/02/2023 16:56

Oops posted too be soon. Despite the fact that I was born 9 days late,I'm an excellent time- keeper!

Roselilly36 · 28/02/2023 16:58

I only know one person that was due on their due date. My DS1 was born the day before he was due. DS2 10 days early. I was two weeks late & DH was a month early.
