What tog duvet do you have?

I am looking to buy a new duvet (my current one is 4 years old and was only a cheap Asda one). It's 13.5 tog and I use that all year round, and don't find it warm enough in the winter. But apparently 13.5 is a winter duvet.

We did have winter and summer ones because our last house was freezing.
Since we moved around 5 years ago we just stick with the Asda 4.5 tog all year round but have a throw & a blanket on top in winter.
Heating thermostat is set for 16 overnight. DH sleeps naked because he’s always hot and complains the throw is too much, I’m in a nightshirt with a long sleeve top underneath because I’m usually colder.

9 tog for winter, 4.5 tog for summer.

thenightsky · 26/02/2023 19:45

We have 15 tog for winter and 7 for summer.

10.5 & 13 tog.

In the summer when it's hot, I sleep with just a sheet over me.

Cullenskink · 26/02/2023 19:46

16.5tog all year round. A second one on in the depths of winter.

WeCome1 · 26/02/2023 19:47

13.5 tog for all but heatwave. 7 tog for three weeks of the year.

AlwaysLatte · 26/02/2023 19:49

We have 4.5 tog in the summer, 10.5 tog in the autumn and spring and 13.5 tog in the winter.
I'm not sure why there has to be a 'half tog' in all duvets!

Triphazard22 · 26/02/2023 19:50

I've got an 'All Seasons' one where the lighter and heavier clip together. I think they are 4.5 and 10 tog so can mix and match depending on weather. The 2 together are very snuggly and warm.

PinkiOcelot · 26/02/2023 19:50

13.5 all year.

JulesJules · 26/02/2023 19:51

10.5 for warmer months, 13.5 for colder months. We also have a 15 tog, but it's too warm mostly. We've got throws we can add for really cold nights.

SomePeopleAreJustBloodyStupid · 26/02/2023 19:51

I use an Asda 4.5 tog duvet, all year round (I replace it yearly) and just put a fleece blanket on top when it's cold

TiredandLate · 26/02/2023 19:52

13.5 tog feather duvet. It's very warm.

NannyGythaOgg · 26/02/2023 19:53

4.5 tog silk duvet all year round.

Window open all year round. 1 tog throw on top when below about 11 in bedroom and an extra fluffy blanket when room temp goes below about 9.

If I stay in bed in the morning I need the throw and blanket up to around 15 degrees but sleeping I like to be pretty cool

CatOnTheChair · 26/02/2023 19:53

1.5, 4.5 and 10.5.
The 4.5 hardly gets used now I've discovered the 1.5.
DS(11) is still on a 4.5 tog duvet!

Wombats67 · 26/02/2023 19:54

I have a Baavet wool winter duvet, an Ikea feather thing (before I knew not to have feather things) and now on top, a coverless duvet. Plus 2 hot water bottles.

Very cold house, I get very cold at night and have a dodgy thyroid.

So yes, a winter duvet would be too light for me.

Redglitter · 26/02/2023 19:59

1.5 tog all year round. I have a throw but rarely use it.

Rebel2 · 26/02/2023 20:00

Wool room one, says approx 11-14 tog

Rebel2 · 26/02/2023 20:00

Oh and if it's cold I put a brushed cotton bottom sheet on with brushed cotton duvet, an extra throw and a patchwork blanket. Toasty!

Remagirl · 26/02/2023 20:00

I bought a wool duvet 5 years ago. I love it. It does all year, warm when it's cold and cool when it's hot. Very sustainable too.

dementedpixie · 26/02/2023 20:01

4.5tog in summer
10.5tog in winter
You get 15tog duvets too if 13.5tog isn't warm enough

Blingstar · 26/02/2023 20:02

15 tog. It separates out for warmer weather. Very reasonably priced from Dunelm.

Okunevo · 26/02/2023 20:03

Currently 13.5 tog and it's a bit too warm when the minimum temp is above 5 degrees (house at 14 degrees until half 7 at night but it's well insulated). DS has a 7.5 tog.

Phillipa12 · 26/02/2023 20:03

2.5 tog in the summer and a 4.5 tog for the spring and autumn. I add a weighted blanket to the 4.5 tog during the winter.

Rosafiona · 26/02/2023 20:06

10 tog (or is it 10.5?) all year round, but my husband is a hot water bottle. If he's not there I have to wear jammies.
NW Scotland, with decent central heating. Previous houses with no central heating I've been known to add a blanket and wear a hat in bed.

littlejo67 · 26/02/2023 20:08

I have a 13 tog for winter plus a throw if needed. House does not get colder than 13 degrees.
It gets washed and put away in a vacuum bag in April. My summer one is 4.5 tog and we use this until about October.
