68 Mill on the Euromillions tonight

I feel crap with some random lurgy and I've bought myself a ticket just so I can spend the evening happily dreaming.

First thing would be a trip to Kuoni, followed by engaging a wedding planner (because all the things stopping us wouldn't matter any more) and a trip to the financial advice firm I used to work for (as a lowly admin type) to get them to 'audition' to be my advisors.

Then buy DP and DC all the things I wish I could get them, like a fancy BBQ, a huge dolls house, a real drum kit and sound recording studio and/or art studio...
I'd get a dog. Pay for private healthcare for my parents and in laws who all need an MOT and hire a PA so I don't have to try and do all my tedious and highly stressful life admin any more. A letter had me in tears earlier because it was just the straw that broke the proverbial. No more!

I might also make random anonymous gifts to people I don't know because it would be fun. I love giving and would indulge myself a lot.

Anybody want to join me and dream a little dream before they announce someone in Belgium or Austria as the winner?

I really do think they should have more prizes with lower values. No one needs £68m.

£1m would be life changing for everyone who lives in the real world.

So 68 x £1m

Rather than

1 x £68m

I couldn't agree more. £68m in the 'wrong hands'- destroys lives.

I'd like (I'm 60) £5-7m. That would do me well. I'd buy a £1m home in south Devon; and a villa in Spain (Altea Hills). Our 2 DSs would get cash in order to buy houses. We'd holiday 4x a year.

But Shelter, Age UK, and Centerpoint would get generous donations.

lifesabitchandthenyoudie · 17/02/2023 18:54

@ouch321 I agree; I would spread it around quite a bit I think, and also try to invest it so I kept getting more to spread! Of course, I'd first look after everyone I know, as well as some local charities. Then I'd buy a large estate (of land) and open an animal rescue and do an employment support scheme to get young people going. I've bitten the bullet and entered, thanks for the dreams!

Badger1970 · 17/02/2023 18:55

My Dad did the lottery religiously, and even when he was in his last weeks still remembered that he needed a ticket bless him. He died 3 weeks ago today so we've all done a ticket or two tonight hoping he sends us a sign Grin

It's a nice distraction to be honest.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 17/02/2023 18:55

I feel a bit thick but can you explain a bit more? @JuneOsborne

HeadacheEarthquake · 17/02/2023 18:56

I'd pay off my house and give it to my mates to live in for free! So they could live rent free and save up. I'd be off seeing the world and rescuing animals. I'd also buy myself a ridiculous campervan, maybe a couple, so whoever wanted to come see the world could come with me. I'd buy the best food for everyone. And get a nosejob. The rest can go into savings for my family when they need stuff.

pinkfondu · 17/02/2023 18:59

If I won I would book a villa somewhere for next week. I would quit work. I would give a couple of peeps at work something significant. Buy my mum and sibling a new house. But myself a new house and car. Best friends would both get houses too.

Then I would start my own business.

Januaryisthelongestyear · 17/02/2023 19:02

I would vanity publish my poetry and hey someone to plan all the meals

I also recommend as a lottery hobby, researching £££ hotels and resorts

Hazey19 · 17/02/2023 19:10

Oh and I also completely agree 68 people winning £1million is preferable to 1 person winning the whole lot x

incognitodorrito · 17/02/2023 19:17

… well… id remain anonymous first of all, gove away a third to good causes throughout my lifetime. I’ve already priced up a 25 day stint to the Maldives in July, a Ferrari spyder on their online configurator also two elite protection dogs (they come in at £20k each but they’d need to get on with my nervous Sprocker).

WinterFoxes · 17/02/2023 19:20

I love this game. I'd be buying houses for everyone - my lovely cousin, all nieces and nephews and of course DC. A flat in Pimlico for DH and me.

Then I'd spend a month at a health spa and retreat just walking and swimming and meditating and doing yoga, until I felt totally rejuventated and not like a knackered old sack of odd socks.

You have to open an account at somewhere like coutts NatWest won't cut it.

mumda · 17/02/2023 18:46

Heating up. A second cream egg and an hour on Rightmove.
I'd send the bookshop I love an email to arrange my order.

You know you could buy the bookshop, right? Keep all the staff there so nobody loses their job. Pay over the odds because you can afford to. Add a little coffee shop if it doesn't already have one. The dream.

bussteward · 17/02/2023 19:24

I’m walking straight up the road to the big house, knocking on the door, and offering them a buy-out. Never food shopping, meal planning, or life adminning again, my staff will do it. Gail’s Bakery whenever I want. Straight up Farrow & Ball, no colour matching.

LifeOfBriony · 17/02/2023 19:29

I'm another one who thinks a range of smaller prizes for more people would be preferable.

But, were I lucky enough, I'd resign, and would give sums to my two closest colleagues who have been so supportive during recent very challenging times, to enable them to make the same choice if they wished.

I would pay off family members' mortgages, pay off some student loans, make donations to charities I support. A realistic sum of money to DS to enable him to buy his own place outright. Give money to my parents to make their lives more comfortable.

Bucket list travel during the next couple of years while giving serious thought to where I would really like to retire to. Whole family holiday in a lovely cottage somewhere in the UK with coast and countryside.

Have shoes made to measure - something I've always fancied. And I'd offer the same to my family.

TabbyBeast · 17/02/2023 19:29

I would offer for my dad to retire and buy a nice house just big enough for my needs and not worry about putting the heating on.

My best friend wants to move out to the country so I would do that for her.

Then I would like to buy some homes and rent them out as affordable homes to women fleeing domestic violence.

Sneakyblinders · 17/02/2023 19:38

A big house and a discreet housekeeper to pick up after me and a long weekend at a spa to celebrate (which has childcare on hand).
I would be putting things on credit card until my millions came in!

Beezknees · 17/02/2023 19:40

I play the Euromillions every week.

First thing I'd do - buy a bottle of prosecco and takeaway while planning my future.

Second thing - hand my notice in at work.

Then I'd book a fabulous dream holiday, and when I get back I'd buy a house (I rent currently).

Who knows after that!

@Badger1970 I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad 💐

I feel you deserve this win!!

MrsElm · 17/02/2023 19:44

I would buy the field behind my house to stop it being built on.

TomatoSandwiches · 17/02/2023 19:45

1 million wouldn't be enough really, I think it's been worked out you would need about 3-5 million to not work again and have a property paid outright and live off the interest/investments comfortably, that's without gifting large sums away also.

LimeCheesecake · 17/02/2023 19:46

@JuneOsborne - Coutts is part of NatWest.

they will pay it into your account- they can’t insist on certain types of accounts as long as it’s a UK one - but your bank account may not be able to accommodate that sort of banking and move you to their premium ranges - eg if you are already part of the NatWest group you’ll be moved to a coutts account.

LimeCheesecake · 17/02/2023 19:48

The maddest bit is you won’t pay any tax on that £68m.

alotoftutus · 17/02/2023 19:48

I would buy houses firstly. As a military family I'm sick of moving and my children not having a childhood home.
I'd buy a bungalow by the sea for my grandparents so my nan wouldn't have to keep struggling going up and down the stairs, a fancy london flat for my little brother and dec out my mums house.
Id clear families debts and get private healthcare for my uncle that's been waiting for an op for 3 years.

After that it would have to be a holiday - a big family one & id take my children to Disney.

The order would probably go to paying the gas bills of all the above houses 🤣

lifesabitchandthenyoudie · 17/02/2023 19:48

oh yes, and I'd always have a new pair of socks (every day); my one stupid, wasteful, ott luxury!
