What's your perfect (realistic) Sunday?

Heathcote294 · 12/02/2023 14:44

Mine's really simple. A nice lie in bed, everyone wakes up and gets ready at their own pace. Then out for a Sunday roast or I cook one. Family walk with the dog in the forest then home for an apple crumble in front of the TV. Family film or episode of whatever series we're watching then everyone does there own thing. Nice bath and book.

DH gets the kids up & gives me a lie in. Nice afternoon walk as a family.
Go out for a Sunday roast so I don't have to cook.
Then home to watch a film or tv series when the dc are in bed.

Sigh... I can dream right? Grin

Witchbitch20 · 12/02/2023 14:56

Lie in.
Newspapers.
Walk around the park.
Sunday lunch in fav place.
Pub for a glass of wine.
Bath and early night watching TV in bed.

WhatTrophy · 12/02/2023 15:01

Long run with friends followed by breakfast in a greasy cafe. Stay chatting until mid day over lots of tea.

Then either home to veg on the sofa with sport on TV or out for a walk and pub meal.

DingDonkey · 12/02/2023 15:06

We always go out for coffee and cake Sunday morning so perfect Sunday would be: everyone wakes up in a good mood, we get our favourite table at the cafe, they have baked our favourite cakes, the coffee is good, the children behave.

Then have a mooch around town, maybe get lunch at the market.

We then have a lazy afternoon, the children both have a long nap at the same time. Walk round the neighbourhood when they wake up, maybe go to the park, easy homecooked dinner and an early night for everyone.

HouseHistoryHunter · 12/02/2023 15:10

We had a lovely - but very unusual- one today. Lie in, bit of skiing, lunch in the sun with a glass of rose, more skiing, then back to base.

Beats the usual washing, cooking, rainy dog walk!

Pretty much the same as yours.

I'm going to start on our roast shortly. We usually have one for tea. My mum's been round to drop off a homemade apple crumble. Dog has been walked and is curled up next to me whilst I binge The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. Kids happy playing lego. Perfect.

IHopeNotSporadically · 12/02/2023 15:28

I like to wake up to an English breakfast tea in bed, with daffodils on my bedside table, Radio 2 playing in the background and my cockapoo laying on my lap.

I then like to have a browse through my Tatler magazine whilst eating tofu and avocado on toast.

I'll then do some yoga in my gym whilst our nanny looks after the children.

I'll spend the afternoon walking through the forest with our gorgeous cockapoo and come home to a Sunday Roast and retire to an exquisite book with the log fire burning.

I'll then have a sumptuous lavender bubble bath whilst listening to Joni Mitchell.

Aposterhasnoname · 12/02/2023 15:30

Lie in, then get up mid morning and head out for a long walk, ending up at nice pub for Sunday lunch and a couple of glasses of wine. Then home, fire lit, pjs on, mug of hot choc and watch a couple of episodes of whatever series we’re on with, then finally a nice early night.

closingscore · 12/02/2023 15:37

Mine is pretty similar.

Nice walk in the morning, preferably somewhere with great views. Sunday roast with pudding at a lovely pub, followed by a Bath and a nap when I get home.

Decent drama on the tv for the evening, maybe with a nice gin and some cheese n biscuits.

2bazookas · 12/02/2023 15:43

Today has been a good Sunday:
DH brought tea in bed.
Went to dog rescue charity to walk a couple of the inmates; both nice dogs; dry mild day, lovely walk through the woods.
Arrived home and met neighbours walking their dog; fun chat.
Lunch was easy peasy, second serve of a delish vegetarian aubergine and bean curry I made last week ( from Tesco's current free recipe mag)
DH went rowing. I went on MN.
We're going to sons house for tea and to play Quirkle with the GC
Midwives on TV tonight

Tisfortired · 12/02/2023 15:52

A nice lie in but not too late, get up around 8:30/9.

Lovely cup of tea and bacon sandwiches, DC playing with toys or colouring in.

Everyone gets dressed and we go out somewhere maybe national trust or a local walk. Sometimes we will go to town and look around the shops, and pick up some sort of baked treat :)

Home for a roast dinner. The perfect Sunday is topped by not getting the Sunday scaries of having work the next day!

maddiemookins16mum · 12/02/2023 15:57

Lie in, tea in bed reading or watching telly
cooked breakfast (egg on toast will suffice)
Minimal housework
No shopping
A lovely cooked Sunday dinner (and pudding)
Church/seeing friends from Church
Something decent on the telly
But best of all, not dreading work the next day
I’ve achieved all of these/or will do by 11pm tonight.

Sounds good! If I can switch the EBT to Earl Grey and the nanny for a bouncer then I'm there!

Buttalapasta · 12/02/2023 17:26

I get mine quite often:
8 - 10am hike and chat with a good friend
10am breakfast with fresh croissants with dh and kids
Pottering until
1pm family lunch out (only manage this once every 8 weeks)
Film/games/ more pottering/seeing friends
8pm takeaway pizza!
9pm cinema (sometimes depending on what's on at local one)

ChicagoBears · 12/02/2023 17:29

We had a lie in, then up and out on the bikes to enjoy the sunshine stopping off at a lovely pub for Sunday lunch. Then we picked up cakes from M&S and had tea and cake at home followed by hot baths all round and now we’ve settled in front of the tv and are watching a film.

Homemade Nando’s wraps later this evening.

Marmite27 · 12/02/2023 17:31

Similar. Up and out with the kids for junior Parkrun/volunteering.

Hone for brunch and showers, then out for a walk and back for a roast.

A film, the dessert.

louderthan · 12/02/2023 17:53

Sundays for me are always spent at the stables. Today I was there by 10, rode four horses throughout the day and got back about half an hour ago. I love it but it's the opposite of restful!

louderthan · 12/02/2023 17:56

Pre-horses when I lived in London my ideal Sunday would be a lie in, big breakfast at home or out for brunch. Walk/exhibition/some other activity maybe with friends, then afternoon tea and home for dinner or go for a pub roast.

Pipsickl · 12/02/2023 18:03

Wake up at a reasonable hour (after 7!) kids come in our bed for a cuddle before we get up. Have breakfast together at the table (Sunday breakfast is always something nice like pancakes or bacon sarnies or bagels)?and then go out for a family walk (today we went to the beach and picked up shells)
come home and have a Sunday roast. Bath the kids and watch a film with them (we are watching stick man at the minute). Kids to bed and me and my husband can watch telly and eat something calorific and have a pot of tea. For the perfect Sunday we have to have something excellent that we can binge watch for a few hours before bed. I love winter Sundays, we get snuggled up on the sofa with the quilt sometimes!

BrutusMcDogface · 12/02/2023 18:07

I actually miss the Sundays when I could just laze around all day on the sofa with friends and our duvets, watching films, making cheese on toast and talking about the night before!

OriGanOver · 12/02/2023 19:03

@BrutusMcDogface those were the best Sundays!

I love Sundays, I get my perfect Sunday regularly, now I have older teens!

Wake up naturally early, go for a swim with my friend, brunch after swim, home and potter around. Either go out with dc or cook a roast, sunday scrabble evening and early night ready for Monday.

TakeNoTweetsGiveNoQuacks · 12/02/2023 19:05

Kids are extremely lively this afternoon/evening and honestly I just want to lie down in a darkened room, preferably with a fucking massive g&t. No such luck today and I don't even have any gin 😩

Ragwort · 12/02/2023 19:07

On my own! Gentle walk (or outdoor swim in the summer), Church, home for a nice roast lunch ... quiet afternoon, maybe another walk. Glass or two of wine in the evening with a good drama on tv. Bath and reading in bed. And not having to talk to anyone else apart from a few pleasantries in Church. Grin.

EasilyDirected · 12/02/2023 19:16

Lie in with a cup of Assam tea and read the papers on my phone till about 8.30.

Out for a walk or go to the gym. Meet friends for breakfast/brunch somewhere. Bit of time at the allotment. Home and have dinner (not roast, something like lasagne), go to the local pub quiz with other friends.

Gamerlady · 12/02/2023 19:16

Spent relaxing in pyjamas drinking coffee after a hard week at work ..catching up on programs I've recorded in the week.. it's bliss
