Do you drink water from a hotel bathroom tap?

Just wondering. Travelling for work with a couple of colleagues & one asked why I bought a large bottle of water for my room. Staying in a small independent hotel & I have no idea if it’s mains or tank fed, & I drink loads of water so I need a source!

No.
I boil the kettle and allow the water to cool if I don't have any bottled water.

StupidlyImperfect · 07/02/2023 22:20

Yes.

Jasharps · 07/02/2023 22:20

Yes

TinaYouFatLard · 07/02/2023 22:21

Only when desperately hungover and I’ve drained the minibar dry.

DramaAlpaca · 07/02/2023 22:21

Yes

Wallabyone · 07/02/2023 22:22

No way, I always have bottle of water in a hotel.

Jellybean23 · 07/02/2023 22:22

Whenever we stay in hotels, we drink the water from the washbasin cold tap. Surely it is mains water, just like at home? And wouldn't it be labelled as not fit for drinking otherwise?

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 07/02/2023 22:22

Yes

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 07/02/2023 22:22

No way. They might use tanks festering god knows what in them.

zurala · 07/02/2023 22:23

Yes. It has never occurred to me not to.

CheekyHusky · 07/02/2023 22:23

No. I use the complimentary bottled water from the room.

OnTheBoardwalk · 07/02/2023 22:23

No. I only drank water at home from my kitchen tap. Based on all kinds of untrue stories but I’m sticking by it

Nap1983 · 07/02/2023 22:24

In Scotland yes.. anywhere else no

Honeyroar · 07/02/2023 22:25

Only if I absolutely have to. We have well water at home and I can smell/taste like chemicals in U.K. mains water. I try to always have mineral water to hand.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 07/02/2023 22:25

No way.

TokyoSushi · 07/02/2023 22:26

Oooh no!

mrsfollowill · 07/02/2023 22:26

Stayed at a hotel in the UK for 2 nights this week- had a fridge (not a minibar so could put our own things in there too) Had complimentary bottled water. Brush my teeth using tap water though and rinse/swallow the water without thinking. Maybe wouldn't fill a glass though and sip it! prefer water properly chilled though.

KrasiTime · 07/02/2023 22:27

Not unless I’ve boiled it first. But I also would drink from my taps at home except for the kitchen tap.

Allsizes8to14 · 07/02/2023 22:28

Nope! Not sure about hygiene and it never seems properly cold. Take bottles and/or ask for a pint of water from the bar and take up for the night

macaronitoni · 07/02/2023 22:28

No never, we always buy a couple of big 1.75l bottles to take to the room per overnight/two nights. Different if AirBnb/apartment/cottage etc, but not in a hotel room would I drink the bathroom tap water.

hugoagogo · 07/02/2023 22:29

Yes of course I would if there was nothing else, but in reality I drink tea/coffee or bought drinks.
Ugh water! I don't drink it at home either 🙃

YesILikeItToo · 07/02/2023 22:29

No, because it is not a kitchen tap. I do not drink water from my bathroom taps at home for the same ‘reason’. I’m not sure if the reason is a sound one? Is it about a difference between ‘mains’ and ‘tank’?

DappledThings · 07/02/2023 22:29

Yes, wouldn't cross my mind not to.

WandaWonder · 07/02/2023 22:31

Yes l, the first thing I do in a hotel is fill all glasses with water and stick in the fridge, if there is one

Otherwise yeah just out of the tap in desperation

SpangoDweller · 07/02/2023 22:31

Interesting - about half and half!
