I use a snoozeband and play white noise to drown out DH snoring

Grapefruitbreakfast · 03/02/2023 07:54

do they have to go over your eyes ?

Yes the basic one can be worn as a headband (it's the one I have)

I use these silicone ones: www.snorestore.co.uk/acatalog/insta-putty-earplugs.html#SID=7

xogossipgirlxo · 03/02/2023 09:26

Boots mouldable wax earplugs

Lifesyoungdream · 03/02/2023 09:29

I think the ones I got were Loop earbuds the quiet ones. They were recommended on here and did work well to block DH snoring.

AutumnIsMyFavouriteSeason · 03/02/2023 11:23

I have these and they work well, but I hate that they are disposable. So much rubbish for the planet. I use each pair for weeks until they stop working, but plan to move to more sustainable ones like Loop when I run out.

I don’t think any earplug is going to work with that close proximity. I use the wax ear ones for neighbour noise, having tried all sorts and whilst they do drown out a lot of the noise, no way would they work on somebody laying next to me snoring! I think separate rooms is the only option 😁

BlueChampagne · 03/02/2023 12:28

SnoreStore do sample packs so you can see which ones suit you best. I found the wax ones weren't great with long hair ...

BertieBotts · 03/02/2023 12:32

Would he go to GP to see if they will investigate the cause of the snoring?

Groutyonehereagain · 03/02/2023 12:36

I use earplugs and we have separate rooms.

hourbyhour101 · 03/02/2023 12:46

Thank you to the ladies on this thread I have ordered from snorestore

Ps op you have my sympathies I'm in same boat

Floofsquidge · 03/02/2023 12:58

I use Loop Quiet. Doesn't block out completely, just enough to dull the worst of it so I can still hear my son if he cries in the night, and comfortable to sleep in. However if you need total blackout and no small person to worry about, go for Bose sleepbuds. Expensive but they work (white noise)

RampantIvy · 03/02/2023 13:00

What has the snorer done to deal with the problem?

madeyemoody · 03/02/2023 13:01

Been dealing with snoring for 9 years. I'm so sorry OP but I'm in the spare bed, nothing worked. No gadgets or snore blocker ear plugs, not even aviation ear plugs worked. I wear ear plugs in the spare bed and can still hear them.

Snoring is vile. It brings out the true feelings of your partner, I hate that you can break your heart crying to them saying it's upsetting and not okay for them health wise and for your relationship and they don't give a fuck because it doesn't affect them. Chronic snorers are usually quite selfish in nature as well.

RampantIvy · 03/02/2023 13:05

I think a lot of them are in denial. DH started snoring and it just got worse and worse. I used to kick him awake every time. Then he started with sleep apnoea so I insisted he saw the GP. His sleep apnoea was so bad that he was having 50 non breathing episodes an hour. He now has a CPAP machine.

KangarooKenny · 03/02/2023 13:06

Separate rooms is bliss.

Whataretheodds · 03/02/2023 13:13

Wow. What a totallt unreasonable and unhelpful generalisation

EezyOozy · 03/02/2023 13:15

Nothing works. Tried everything. Separate rooms is best.

Unikeko · 03/02/2023 13:16

I second a sleep study. Snoring can be a sign of all sorts of bigger problems.

MrsH497 · 03/02/2023 13:18

Bose ear buds

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 03/02/2023 13:18

I always suggest a trip to the GP for the snorer. DH used to think he couldn't help snoring - but he could! He just had to find out what the root cause was.

Zarzuela · 03/02/2023 14:42

After years of trying, I've had success with silicone ear plugs. I use half a one for each ear, roll it into a cone shape with quite long narrow part. Push it in as far as comfortable. Press all around the edge to flatten against my ear to really seal it.

Fedupofdiets · 03/02/2023 14:45

Boot Muffles earplugs. I have to break a bit off and warm it in my hand - have been using them for 15 years as I am such a light sleeper - they changed my life, i never ever sleep without them now.
