Bose sleepbuds - I can't sleep without them now, I love them!

If you do have a little one, I just sleep with the monitor next to my bed 🙂

After years of trying, I've had success with silicone ear plugs. I use half a one for each ear, roll it into a cone shape with quite long narrow part. Push it in as far as comfortable. Press all around the edge to flatten against my ear to really seal it.

This this this. I've been doing this for all the seven years I've been married to a heavy snorer.

Packets say "don't break them apart, only use whole, not for prolonged use" blah blah blah, I ignored and my ears are fine after years of wearing.

Most others I find give pressure damage/pain like the expanding/foam ones.

Chronic snorers are usually quite selfish in nature as well

Wow. What a totallt unreasonable and unhelpful generalisation

You ever slept beside one?!

Clusterfunk · 03/02/2023 15:02

My DF is a chronic snorer and tried just about everything including surgery to stop the issue. Nothing worked.

DM now uses the Bose ones which she has said are fab, but if he’s got a cold or has had a whisky at Christmas (both things make it next level bad) she still checks in to the spare room to get a good nights sleep!

permanentholiday · 03/02/2023 15:04

I use the pink and yellow foam type ones. Get them in bulk from ebay/amazon. I roll one between my fingers to make it nice and narrow and then shove it in! They 100% work and I can barely hear anything once I have them both in. My DH is a terrible snorer and these make all the difference. I do feel for you it's really awful to put up with!

Unfortunately I am Sleepbudless at the moment , mine developed a fault and wouldn't charge fully. I returned them and got a full refund.
I could not buy a replacement as they have stopped making the Sleepbud II, but Bose are hoping to launch the Sleepbud III sometime this year.

They are expensive, but to me worth every penny, I have to use ordinary ear plugs at the moment but they are a very, very poor substitute.

I miss my 'Canvas Rain' snore masker!

Grapefruitbreakfast · 03/02/2023 15:09

Bose sleep buds seem to have been discontinued

IME there is no earplug that blocks snoring. And I have drawers full of every type imaginable, including some from specialised hearing suppliers.

When we are away I use sleepphones. I like the wired ones as the fear of the battery running out on cordless keeps me awake! I haven't strangled myself yet. I play white noise through them. I also use the pink and yellow soft earplugs so that I can play the white noise loud enough to drown the snoring without deafening myself.

At home it's separate rooms. Bliss.

Yes i have.

How many participants were there in the randomised control that supports your massive and offensive generalisation?

Yes they have certainly had a lot of problems, I have had to return mine twice for not charging but both times they gave me a replacement! Even though i was very outside the warranty period. So despite that I am still loyal. Hopefully they will fix the charging issues in the III

Lolliesareonme · 03/02/2023 15:40

I accidentally discovered these after buying a sleep mask.

There are earplugs the same sold on Amazon separately, so probably equivalent (they look it).

Block everything, and easier to use than squishing up the barrel/bullet types. I just pull my ear up from the top and screw them in.

@Beamed22 Bose customer service is top notch.

scoobycute · 03/02/2023 23:06

@Whataretheodds huh? I didn't make the first comment! Jeeeesh some people on here so pressed. Ahhh maybe you're the snorer...😆

Boots mouldable wax earplugs

These. My partner snores loudly and I'm a light sleeper and these are the only thing that works for me.

Labraradabrador · 03/02/2023 23:11

Can I recommend separate bedrooms? Only reason me and dh still together

Railwayroad · 03/02/2023 23:13

Try getting a referral to a sleep clinic.

DH snores. After a lot of persuasion GP referred to ENT. There is an issue with his throat but nothing that can be done. So not all snores are selfish. It isn’t easy to cure. And as we age it gets worse.

I use ear buds and play brown noise.

Chippy1234 · 03/02/2023 23:17

Second Bose sleepbuds but they are not reliable. I didn’t know they have discontinued Sleepbud II. Clearly they still have big issues. I have one pack and they are great. ££ though!

Chronic snorers are usually quite selfish in nature as well.

I think a lot of them are in denial. DH started snoring and it just got worse and worse. I used to kick him awake every time. Then he started with sleep apnoea so I insisted he saw the GP. His sleep apnoea was so bad that he was having 50 non breathing episodes an hour. He now has a CPAP machine.

This ... it could just be an anatomical thing ... sometimes losing weight and less alcohol can help. Sometimes, a CPAP machine. I know what you mean about the selfish bit to some extent - it's not really selfish, but it's hard to understand how much of a problem it is unless you're the one listening to it. My husband fought the suggestion of a CPAP machine for years. Now he wouldn't be without it because he feels so much better sleeping properly.

pinkorchid1 · 04/02/2023 12:35

It took DP recording himself with a sleep app to realise how bad his snoring was and to try and do something about it. Most of the time he sleeps in the spare room which is the best solution imo !
