Where do people buy decent tights from these days?

Those M and S tights aren't long enough in the leg for me.

I usually buy Wolford tights. They can be expensive - the most expensive I paid was about £40 but they have lasted 10 years so far and come out every winter. They are great. I have had some really good comfy thermal lined ones from Primark as well.

I washed mine in the machine and they bobbled after a few washes

That's odd - most of my original ones have been washed dozens of times and are absolutely fine, not a bobble in sight. I use a mesh wash bag and wash them at a low temperature, then dry them on an airer or in the airing cupboard. I even had one lot end up in the tumble drier on high accidentally (thanks, DD1) and they came out absolutely unharmed.

Jumping on the thread to ask if anyone knows of any low-waisted tights which are good for long legs?
Otherwise my recommendation is John Lewis, M and S, or Falke tights. And yes to sizing up! I used to love Debenhams ones but I haven't tried them since they got bought out.

Snag here too but M&S do AMAZING comfy tights. I go a size up for extra comfort.

Try Heist they used to do a lower waist version ....

I like Hedonine high waisted. They are brilliant

I would try snag but I can never find any pictures of the body of them - do they have a seam up the front? What is the waistband like?

AnotherEmma · 04/02/2023 13:31

I bought Snags a few years ago after reading all the recommendations on here. They are comfier than M&S but not amazing. I have been really put off by all the marketing which seems to have a ridiculously high proportion of men in tights. I do like the fact that they have lots of "plus size" models but agree they're not doing themselves any favours if they end up not showing any smaller size models and making people think they only do the larger sizes.

I might try Heist tights next...

I've just given up on M&S tights, after buying them for years, as the ones I bought recently fall down All The Bloody Time. I'm an 8/10, 5'3" but longish legs for my height. Size small is bloody HUGE and they are so soft and ungrippy that they just fall down.

I wear hold ups sometimes, I buy them online, normally Levante ones, and they stay up. Would like to find tights that do too! Might try Wolford/Heist ...
