Asda rewards

I've been using the Asda rewards app for a few months now and my cash pot is building nicely.

Does anyone know if the rewards and targets are targeted to your shopping habits? My spending target for January was about double the targets for October and November. Are they just going to keep going up and up? Also, some of the Star Products appear just after I've bought them 🤦🏻‍♀️

It won't change anything but I'm just curious.

I don't know but remember u can only keep the pot for so long?
3 or 6 months?

OldTinHat · 31/01/2023 20:26

I have this too but have no idea how to cash in the rewards. Also heard they don't last very long.

TheWoollybacksWife · 31/01/2023 20:33

They do expire after 6 months.

@OldTinHat I cashed some in just before Christmas. There's a "Spend" option at the bottom of the app page. This lets you cash in your pot and creates vouchers in the app. I used them on an online shop so as far as I can remember they added automatically but I expect that they would come off your shopping total when you scan the app in store.

Thank you @TheWoollybacksWife I shop online (had a delivery today 🙄) so will look at that when I order next week. I've got about a fiver - I don't want to miss out on that!

Sorry for barging on your thread x

Whatthetrolley · 31/01/2023 20:41

I'm so cross with myself. I spent a lot in Asda today and forgot to scan my app 🤬

TheWoollybacksWife · 31/01/2023 20:43

It's free money @OldTinHat! It's better than the other supermarket loyalty schemes in my opinion.

If you get the Christmas savings card you can also move your savings on the over to the card, you just have to spend the same as or more than of what you are moving ( hope that makes sense).

Press the spend tab on the app, choose how many £ you want to convert and press the green button - your £ are instantly converted into a bar code which you scan at the till to get that amount off your shop, or if you shop online it's automatically applied at the checkout.

You only get six months to spend the money so we spend everything we have once a month.

teatwosugarspls · 31/01/2023 20:50

On the reward app* that was meant to say

Thank yoooooou!!!! And thank you OP!! 😘😘

It's super easy, go into spend on the app and create a voucher. I believe but double check that they now last 90 days. You need to convert your cash pot within 6 months of earning.

BaconAndAvocado · 31/01/2023 21:29

Love this app. Haven’t change my shopping habits and has already used my rewards to pay for 2 weekly shops.

Crumpetdisappointment · 01/02/2023 08:28

i wasnt getting any rewrds and then couldnt log in, so i didnt bother any more - it seems you dont get rewards for all your shopping- just specific things.

There are specific cashpot rewards in different products but you also have the generic ones e.g. spend a certain amount on fruit and veg to get £2 back. Or the monthly one where you get rewarded for normal spending.

Crumpetdisappointment · 01/02/2023 08:34

maybe i wasnt spending enough, i do vary between shops

senua · 01/02/2023 08:39

Have you noticed their prices going up? I'm getting more and more in Aldi instead.

I read something in their in-house magazine about the Rewards scheme. There were a few real-life stories about how Barbara from Beverley had got £2.36 saved in her pot. Whoop de do. I'm not going to clutter my phone with an App for that sort of pathetic reward. I'd much prefer to go to Aldi and get it cheaper in the first place.

Monkeybutt1 · 01/02/2023 08:40

I have earned a lot but I buy almost everything from Asda, food, toiletries, alcohol and some clothes. I've earned from star products and the missions but also hitting the various spending targets. I haven't changed my habits I don't look at what I need to buy to get rewards. I had a £25 voucher in November and have £31 in my pot so far. I am saving it until the 25% off wine is on in a few weeks then will stock up.
I would say if you shop there anyway it is worth it, free money!

There's no such thing as a free lunch.

PissedUpLightweightEmptyHeadedNooNoo · 01/02/2023 08:52

Just totted up in the app, I've had £69 since mid November. Not bad.

Ohmych · 01/02/2023 08:56

I've had just under £40 since September earned in rewards. It's not even my main shop I just do top up shops there or stuff I can't get in aldi.

Hups · 01/02/2023 09:04

I don't know how to use it when I'm actually shopping, so despite having the app, I've never used it.

plumduck · 01/02/2023 09:05

Probably they know all the tricks to keep you buying and thinking you're saving

Ohmych · 01/02/2023 09:13

If you go to a normal check out ask them before you pay to scan the app first.

If you're on the self scan you scan the app as if it's another item of shopping.

I did this last year and spent £120, I had the app open but was busy packing and my husband just paid without thinking. I was fuming and said the cashier should ask/remind you about the app seeing as they really push the promotion all over the store! Really didn’t sit well with me at all 😅 And once you’ve paid you can’t then add it into your app.. definitely know what they’re doing there don’t they!

PissedUpLightweightEmptyHeadedNooNoo · 01/02/2023 09:24

I only use Asda for online orders, so it adds it all up automatically
