No. Wouldn’t cross my mind tbh.

CaptainMyCaptain · 28/01/2023 12:05

No. Why on Earth would you?

CaptainMyCaptain · 28/01/2023 12:05

I wouldn't wash the cover straight out of the packaging either.

No

Even if I wanted to I'm not sure it would fit in the machine

LampHat · 28/01/2023 12:06

Omigod no. But then I have never actually washed my duvet, so maybe our standards are different 🫣

watchfulwishes · 28/01/2023 12:08

Yes, I wash pretty much every new textiles item where this is possible.

Textiles are sprayed with a lot of chemicals during production to prevent insect infestation during storage/transportation. I like to remove that.

MaryJean87 · 28/01/2023 12:09

No I've got enough washing already to be washing things that don't need it.

PacificallyRequested · 28/01/2023 12:10

No, I am a normal person and wouldn't do this.

RoseDog · 28/01/2023 12:11

I would open up the duvet give it a good shake and air it over the banister for the day.

I would would wash the duvet cover and pillow cases just they were soft and smell nice.

OldEvilOwl · 28/01/2023 12:23

No, I wouldn't bother washing a new duvet cover either

Rude.
I'm a normal person too and do do it.

userxx · 28/01/2023 12:25

Duvet no, bedding yes.

MuddledMadge · 28/01/2023 12:25

No, it wouldn't occur me to be honest.

turnipash · 28/01/2023 12:28

No. I only wash dirty things

KangarooKenny · 28/01/2023 12:28

No, just like I wouldn’t wash brand new pillows.

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/01/2023 12:29

Why?
Does the packaging say you have to?

BarbaraofSeville · 28/01/2023 12:29

It's never occurred to me to wash anything new (bedding, clothes etc) before using/wearing them.

Never done me any harm.

Thisismyusernamefornow · 28/01/2023 12:40

No.

Seeline · 28/01/2023 12:45

Was it not packaged correctly?
Was it kicking around the shop floor?

Then no. I don't wash anything that's clean, or new.

SheWoreYellow · 28/01/2023 12:46

No way. A king size duvet would be a complete pain to wash.

watchfulwishes · 28/01/2023 12:47

I can see I am an outlier, but I find it weird how people would wash for visible dirt, which is probably harmless, but not for chemical sprays, which cause lung damage.

Humans are very diverse.

AbsoluteYawns · 28/01/2023 12:48

No way! For those that do...how do you wash and dry a super king size duvet?!

PortiasBiscuit · 28/01/2023 12:48

I sometimes wonder how I have made it to 58yo? All the dangerous things I do.

Then I remember, I can actually do fucking risk assessment!

BringOnFebBankHoliday · 28/01/2023 12:48

SheWoreYellow · 28/01/2023 12:46

No way. A king size duvet would be a complete pain to wash.

And a bigger pain to dry!

No, would never enter my mind 😏

User4873628 · 28/01/2023 13:03

No, but I'd hang it over the washing line to air for a while if I could.
