Would you pay £230 for an overnight stay that includes spa access

DPs birthday, and this is the cheapest (yet nice) one I can find. I still feel agog thinking £230 is a bill, fuel for the month etc but is this just what you pay for an experience like this nowadays?

4 star hotel, very small spa with pool, jacuzzi and hot tub. In the lakes. This is midweek prices.

Is that for two people and with meals?

or once person and room only?

doadeer · 25/01/2023 16:49

Is it Lakeside Hotel? That's very nice so I would for that yes

Hintofreality · 25/01/2023 16:49

It’s all relative and pointless asking what others would do. Some people are in a position where £230 is small charge.

If you can afford it, go.

If 2 people bed & breakfast that’s pretty reasonable tbh

the bigger spa hotels I’d expect £300+

TheChosenTwo · 25/01/2023 16:49

It sounds really reasonable to me, I’d expect that to be just room only.

Findyourneutralspace · 25/01/2023 16:49

That’s around the going rate I’d say. Hospitality was hit hard by Covid and prices have gone up. What is included in the package? Meals etc?

Custord · 25/01/2023 16:49

Personally I think spas are over-rated. Never been to one mind! I'd rather a nice cosy hotel with a nice restaurant.

TheChosenTwo · 25/01/2023 16:52

Dh paid quite a bit more for 2 nights in a spa hotel a couple of years ago for my birthday, think breakfast was included.
It was literally shit 😂 price isn’t always a great indicator of quality - the staff were absolutely lovely but my god I’d never seen a ‘spa’ quite like it before in my life… nor would I wish to quite frankly!

ARoughRide · 25/01/2023 16:55

When you say spa access, does it include any treatments?
I’m assuming not. In which case £230 a night for B&B with access to a pool, hot tub and jacuzzi is more than I’d want my DH to pay.

MzMarple · 25/01/2023 16:56

Thats on the cheaper side. Is it room only?

Are you booking direct with the hotel for the best offer/price?

Wishing you a fab time op.

Just4ThisThread · 25/01/2023 16:56

Nope. If it’s just access to facilities and no treatments etc, nah. Many Holiday Inns and Crowne Plazas have they facilities attached for less than £100 per night midweek.

holierthanthou73 · 25/01/2023 16:58

I’d want a bit of food chucked in as well for that

moreparmesan · 25/01/2023 17:00

Oops sorry for the drip feed

It includes breakfast and is 230 for 2 people for one night.

Then yes, I think that’s a typical rate, sadly.

Tilllly · 25/01/2023 17:02

That's about mid range I think

But Hilton and Q hotels have some much better deals

Blort · 25/01/2023 17:02

They are all normally £150 pp when i last looked so thats a good deal if its a nice spa (and not just a hotel with a pool and shabby sauna)

doadeer · 25/01/2023 17:03

There's no point naming random hotels if they don't have any in the Lakes where OP wants to go. I'd rather pay more for a hotel in a nice location like this where you can have lovely walks than a cheaper hotel in an uninspiring area.

If it is lakeside hotel op it's lovely

If you can afford it - go. If you can't - don't.

Pseudonamed · 25/01/2023 17:26

Yes I would and yes we do as regularly as we can.

FettleOfKish · 25/01/2023 17:27

I think that's about right OP for a nice 4* hotel with a Spa in a desirable location.

DH and I have a few overnight breaks coming up in an equally nice location, one of them was £260 including dinner (but no spa and low season), one was £320 for a penthouse with it's own hot-tub and includes breakfast, plus spa access (that was booked in the 'January sale' on a non-refundable rate, low season) and the last one was £220 with breakfast, no spa or especially nice room but it is higher season. All of them are independent hotels, not chains, and all are 4*.

The above were all booked with vouchers we received as wedding gifts, we're not typically splashing out this much on hotels 😄

Beebumble2 · 25/01/2023 17:27

I’d look very closely at what others say on Tripadviser, and the fine details on the hotel website. Recently my friend and I paid more than that for 3 nights in dreadful room at a 4* with spa. She booked it and once they had the credit card details we were trapped!

Pseudonamed · 25/01/2023 17:32

Last summer we had one night away for the two of us with breakfast, couples massage, couples facial and full use of the spa costing £360.
Boxing day we had one night away for us with breakfast, prosecco and chocs on arrival, 7 course tasting menu and full use of the spa costing £315.

gogohmm · 25/01/2023 17:37

I've paid £235 for dinner bed and breakfast in a 5*

Penguinsista · 25/01/2023 17:47

Which area are you, perhaps someone can suggest somewhere nice?

amonsteronthehill · 25/01/2023 17:51

Hard no.

Especially with a late afternoon check in and morning checkout.

And 'breakfast' is the cheapest meal of the day. Rather have dinner included.

Way too much money for me personally.
