Not easy to skim on the phone but glad to see there are people who have spent even longer than me thinking about "wordle" 🤣

If you tap on the letters of SALET they turn yellow, or green if you tap twice and it comes up with the next ‘optimum’ word. You can check your Wordle against it any day. I think it almost never gets it in two as it usually goes off at a bit of a tangent for the second word, but overall its average is very low and it never fails.

It does seem to have been harder. My stats have worsened recently.

I can understand that the program optimises the process by being able to analyse the probability of letter combinations etc. after first guess. It's interesting that the 2nd word is often apparently off piste. Clearly its goal is lowest average score. I wonder how many wordlers are driven by the potential buzz of getting a 2 so would be less likely to adopt the same approach (assuming they would even be able to analyse the letters in the way the computer can!).

Yes, if you start with SALET you can just do what it does. It is possible to beat it with a lucky two or three sometimes though, and let’s face it people can always cheat if they want by various means.

I agree that there's plenty scope to cheat or get a little help along the way.
I'm so neurotic about not even wanting a hint, I won't look at this thread till I've completed my game 😄

Oh I don't like that cheaty thing! What's the point in doing it if you're just going to get the answer elsewhere?

No. I never look at Mumsnet till I’ve done the Wordle. DH and I don’t talk about our scores till we’ve both done it either.

You check how well you did afterwards. I suppose it could spoil it if you learnt all the second and third words, but if people want to invest the effort, why not.

I don't check this thread either until I've done it in case there's a spoiler. I wanted to comment how a-maizing Dahlia's game was yesterday, but didn't :)

Couldn't see that one for ages but I think I had already excluded so many letters and combinations with my first two guesses!

I also try not to look on here until I've completed my Wordle for the day as I'd rather not pick up any hints in advance on whether it's a tricky one or not

I don't normally check the thread until I've completed it, but occasionally if it seems a bit of a mare I pop my head in to see how everyone else is doing. People here are usually quite scrupulous about not posting spoilers.
I'm still 'amaized' at my oner. It's not my first, but the other two were random last minute choices, so I never felt they counted for much. I had the notion that those buggers were overdue to give us a word with a Z in it, and I had MAIZE running in front of my eyes for the 20 minutes leading up to the clock flipping to 00:00.
Fucked up today's properly, and didn't realise until just now that I'd repeated two wrong letters in the same place on the line directly underneath.

I also play like it's in hard mode but without hard mode enabled.
It didn't do me any favours today 😂
