Hitting 47 and getting lots of redness around nose and slightly on cheeks I don't think it's roses.

Laser?

Placemarking. I've got literally two noticeable lines which I'd like to ditch.

ThePinkQualityStreet · 22/01/2023 19:10

I had the exact same thing.
I went to a skin specialist and the treatment was called “broken capillaries”
it god rid of most of them and my nose area looked much much better.
I re commend getting it done.
mess only about £50-£75 ish

2023bebetter · 22/01/2023 19:16

Wow thank you,that sounds about right re capillaries.

How does one find a skin specialist?

@ThePinkQualityStreet

I've just quickly had a look at broken capillary treatment and it seems there is laser but also microwave? Which one did you have?

SoLongFurlough · 22/01/2023 19:58

Watching as I am considering laser for broken veins on cheeks but not sure how many treatments are needed

Sillybanana · 22/01/2023 20:05

I had thermavein treatment for mine at a local laser clinic. Not cheap but worked brilliantly!

2023bebetter · 23/01/2023 07:16

@Sillybanana

Is that the microwave one and if you don't mind saying how much? Another poster mentioned 75 .

lummox · 23/01/2023 07:32

Can I ask does it leave any marks/bruising at first, or do you see the improvement straight away?

picklemewalnuts · 23/01/2023 07:34

Oh I'd love to know about this! I have some thread veins on my chin, it's literally the only place I need to use concealer.

pompomdaisy · 23/01/2023 07:37

I've just looked up the cost and it's about £500 for the pulse therapy. Not sure where that poster got treatment for £75!

CleanBedding · 23/01/2023 08:07

I also have these that I'd like rid of, around my nose and chin (have them on my cheeks too but don't mind them there so much). I could stretch to £75 but not £500 so I'd be interested in more info!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 23/01/2023 08:49

I'd also like to know. I'm only 41 and had them on my nose for years. I think it's sun damage

picklemewalnuts · 23/01/2023 10:15

A place near me does it for £50 per session. No idea how many sessions, but I've asked.

ginandoreos · 23/01/2023 11:06

Oh me too! Tiny little ones on my nose but I think I have 3 or 4 now! I'd love to get shot of them, anybody know of anywhere in Surrey?

2023bebetter · 23/01/2023 13:34

@picklemewalnuts could you tell us if that's microwave or lasrer or another type of treatment please

AnchorWHAT · 23/01/2023 13:42

Does anyone know if those home ipl machines would fade or get rid of broken veins and or age spots or is it a different sort of laser?

Eatentoomanyroses · 23/01/2023 13:44

My mum treats these with the pulse dye laser. Works very well.

DrPhilYourGuts · 23/01/2023 13:56

I've had this done around my nose. Cost I think £90 in London. Loads of salons do it, so I imagine a quick Google or search on Treatwell in your area.

It was moderately painful, like being burnt (do not wear eye make up!), but the pain dissipates quickly after treatment. I didn't have bruising but looked inflamed for at least the rest of the day. Not horrendous but I wouldn't have wanted to be seen doing much more than errands until the next day.

The thing to understand is that a proportion of the veins required repeated sessions. Some come back within 6 months or a year, so I'm having it done on a relatively frequent basis having first started 5 years ago, whereas a few have never returned.

If Thermavein type treatment doesn't work you can have IPL, which is more expensive and painful but supposedly more effective. I haven't pursued that yet as mine is caused by Rosacea and so will be a recurring issue as I understand it.

It wasn't named, just showed a tick-tock involving a laser and some gel!

Sillybanana · 23/01/2023 18:07

It was very painless It cost £120 for a small area but maybe less out of London!

mintbiscuit · 23/01/2023 18:24

Advanced electrolysis, think same as thermavein.

Try it before laser. Far cheaper and imo works

2023bebetter · 23/01/2023 19:44

@mintbiscuit

Thanks, assume you had that? Is nose completely normal after?

It’s still there! 😂

slight redness day after but nothing make up doesn’t cover. No down time at all really
