I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day. Not in silence today - the washer's on already to get the couple of wash loads there are done & dusted for the weekend.

I'll wake dd2 soon-ish. We're heading into town to finish birthday shopping for dd1, who was a bit put-out that she can't come with us 🤷‍♀️ I need to pick up a couple of other bits too.

When we get back, I want to undo the latest round of the blanket I've started for myself; I realised after spending an hour on it last night that four pairs of stitches are in slightly the wrong place <sigh>. I'll re-do it in front of the tv tonight.

Dd2 has science homework to do but other than that they did everything last night so the rest of the afternoon/evening should be fairly chilled.

I have no idea what's for tea yet. I think we've got pork loin steaks, mince, or sausages left in the freezer. I'll see what the girls say when they're up.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning! Thanks for thread @lucysmam. DH is in bed, DS is in his room playing on his tablet. I want to get the house organised and cleaned but DD (18 months) has other ideas so will have to wait til DH is up before I can do anything meaningful! Our front room is a tip - full of toys. And the house is like a laundrette, stacks of clothes all over the place.

DS has a birthday party this afternoon which will keep him busy for a while. Toying with the idea of taking the baby swimming but urgh 😅

ShesThunderstorms · 21/01/2023 09:45

Off to do the big food shop at Aldi when I can find a pound coin for the trolley haha. I'll take my time doing it as our 2 and 3 year olds will be home with DP so it's nice quiet time for me!
Then lunch and get wrapped up and off to a country park for the kids to run off some steam.
Not sure what I'll make for dinner yet, whatever we fancy most from the food shop I think.

WithIcePlease · 21/01/2023 09:48

DH working until 2ish
Spent morning so far looking at recipes and will cook a slow cooker dhal in a mo and probably a black eyed bean curry both for the freezer.
DC have virtually cleared my freezer of batch cooked food leaving after Xmas so I cooked 10 portions of chilli last night too
Got a new recipe from the Times for tomorrow
I may clear out a drawer but prefer cooking
I'm only cooking stuff I have ingredients for as not going out in this frost

Listening to drama on radio on my own in the kitchen while cooking makes me so happy 😀

@lifeafterdc
I'm there now with a 15 and 20 year old
It is lovely to be able to go shopping,go to a cafe or even the pub as we did at Christmas when the fancy takes you, although my DS1 did wake me up last night at God's know what time as he had run out of toilet paper!

Me and DH have been up since 7 sorting out the utility where all the Christmas stuff was dumped.
Do I really need to keep 2 old irons,no I don't.

2 loads of washing done, beds need changing when I can get the kids out of them and ironing to do.

Got a couple of items to return then going to treat myself to a toastie and coffee at the local cafe.

Might make a chicken and mushroom curry for dinner.

Bestcatmum · 21/01/2023 09:50

I'm working overtime so I can afford to see a dentist.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 21/01/2023 09:50

Morning! I’m on the sofa, awaiting my second cup of coffee. DP’s in the kitchen, and DD’s upstairs in her room with his phone.
DP’s going to take DD to the park while I have a wash, then,
when DD’s carers arrive, we’ll escape for a few hours.
Not sure what we’ll do - car is having an expensive holiday in the garage, so we can’t go too far afield.
Might pop in on my dad.
I need to wash the bedding at some point.
We’ll spend the rest of the afternoon and early evening playing endless games of hide and seek and chasing with DD, then when she’s finally asleep we’ll crash out on the sofa with something snacky and probably fail to watch anything on telly. I’ve got loads of lovely books to read, so that’s fine by me.

ssd · 21/01/2023 09:52

Morning @lucysmam , can i ask a question i always wonder about?
Why do you wake the girls at the weekend instead of letting them sleep in? I never understand that! Its not a criticism, i genuinely wonder. Mine were early risers for years and the joy in knowing they were getting a decent sleep has never left meGrin plus i like the peace when i get the tv to myself. And i always felt after a busy week at school a lie in was good for them.
Hope you don't mind me asking. As i said I'm genuinely curious, not criticising at all.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 21/01/2023 09:52

Morning! It’s very frosty and foggy here so little inclination to go outside. DH says he’ll walk DDog.
I’ve done the ironing and put it away, now pondering what to have for dinner - I get fed up with cooking. I have nothing else planned except that the fridge needs cleaning out, horrible job because the utility room is so cold 🥶

BelleSauvage9 · 21/01/2023 09:54

Good morning @lucysmam 😊

I'm collecting a wooden Walker toy from someone on fb which will be a first bday present for dd2 (in a couple of weeks).

Then this afternoon we're going to meet our new great nephew ❤️ beforehand I'm going to go and pick up some food supplies for the new parents so they don't have to worry about cooking much for a few days.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend

ssd · 21/01/2023 09:54

Sorry i never answered your op.
Im sitting on the couch drinking tea, dh is just up ( ruining my peace) and ds is asleep. Weather is frosty and cold with rain not far away.

Chevyimpala67 · 21/01/2023 09:55

Just finished my second coffee ☕️
Dh left at sparrow fart for a business trip
Ds1 will be studying all day
Ds2 just having breakfast
I did a lot of cleaning yesterday and the ironing so not much to do today
I am going to clean the bathroom and shower then I might have a walk to the village but it looks very cold 🥶 out there today 😕

Mydogatemypurse · 21/01/2023 09:58

About to drink my first cup of tea. Then I need to do a big tidy and mop/hoover as I have a viewing on my house 🤞🤞🤞
I also have a friend from school popping over for coffee early eve, not seen him for a couple of years and hes bringing his new baby so that will be lovely too. Will probably buy some cake.
My sons also need a haircut so will pop over to the hairdressers after viewing.

mamaduckbone · 21/01/2023 10:02

Morning @lucysmam and all.
It's a beautiful frosty, sunny morning here so I dragged myself out for a brisk walk along the canal first thing - trying to build myself back up to running but not quite there yet.

I've just had porridge and a big cup of tea, now need to tidy up a bit and do some planning for school, which I'm putting off.

I'm waiting on a pitch inspection to see whether I'm taking ds1 to rugby this afternoon (sort of hoping it's cancelled). If not, I'll go over to my mum's for a couple of hours this afternoon.

Ds1 has just informed me he has plans - he's going into the city on the train with some friends for the first time, which I'm fine with - he's 13 1/2 and has had a few friendship issues so I'm really pleased he's been invited, and it's a nice group of lads that are going.

Dh is at work. We'll light the stove and have a couple of glasses of red tonight. Ds1 is out and ds2 will probably hit the PlayStation - it's slightly strange having evenings back to ourselves sometimes.

mamaduckbone · 21/01/2023 10:03

It's ds2 that's 13 1/2 and going out on the train...not that anyone is that bothered about the detail I'm sure!! ConfusedGrin

charabang · 21/01/2023 10:08

I'm still in bed with the dog. Contemplating what to do with myself as I have no pressing jobs. I may go into the next town and browse the charity shops then pick up a craft project when I get back. Youngest is doing her dissertation so may give her a call to see how she's progressing. Weekends are very easy now mine are all grown so I'm reaping the rewards for all those early risings with young kids.

Justonedayatatime11 · 21/01/2023 10:08

Still in bed. DH and DD downstairs having breakfast, we're meant to be going out for the day for a walk on the beach, fish and chips and to see DM. I had cortisone injections in both hips on Weds though and am struggling a bit so not sure walking is the best idea! Lazy evening later rewatching Wednesday with DD and pick n mix. Also have a ton of housework to do and things to organise before workmen arrive on Monday to start putting our house back together. We had a major flood in November and have only just received a drying certificate so now have 2 months of works starting!

PopsicleHustler · 21/01/2023 10:09

I am only 2 and a half weeks post c section so am still taking it easy. I have given my eldest children a list of chores to so, whilst I rest with the newborn and feed him. They are looking forward to winning PlayStation and chocolate treats later if they complete their jobs. I have 6 kids haha, so its a very busy household. They're all chipping in to help mummy.

Also Need to sort through old baby clothes from our 1st and 2nd son for the new baby. Its Buried in the downstairs storage cupboard at the back under a heap of dust in a load of bin bags. But its all very good clothing and I don't want to spend any more money on new stuff when there is perfectly fine newborn upto 1yr old clothes in there for the new baby.
Also trying to catch up on some online work whilst watching my number one JudgeJudy! And making home lesson plans for next week as i home school our 4th child.
Dinner will be chicken chargrills, salad, coleslaw and potato wedges ! And the chocolate for after yay!

EsmeeMerlin · 21/01/2023 10:10

Morning I am currently under a blanket on the sofa with a cup of tea. Only woke up half an hour ago, the early mornings for work this week has killed me so glad I slept in today. DH is leaving for work at half 11 and I will take our two sons to soft play for a couple of hours, it's sunny so will also walk on the beach. They will then no doubt spend the rest of the day on their consoles while I do some chores around the house. Ds2 is in a foul mood so today should be fun.

TangledWebOfDeception · 21/01/2023 10:13

Morning @lucysmam! Love these threads. 🌻

I’ve just made coffee, which we’re having in bed.

Afterwards I’ll make a Nutella sandwich French toast for DH’s breakfast. I don’t eat breakfast anymore as I’m permanently back on low carbing for my health’s sake.

No plans for today, really. It's very cold outside so I’m not going to go out unless I have to. We do need to buy a couple of crates as I need some for storage of my Christmas decorations - they are still (neatly) piled up one side of the living room. But it might wait ‘til Monday.

I need to box up a few things that I’m selling and bag up some things that are going to the charity shop. I might also do a little re-jig of my bedside table drawer organisation and my beauty/personal grooming drawer.

At some point (probably when it’s darker in the late afternoon) I will light all the candles and snuggle down under my blanket on the sofa to catch up on a couple of chapters of The Christmas Chronicles and post my thoughts on the read-along thread.

Dinner will be a Thai green curry (chicken).

lucysmam · 21/01/2023 10:21

@ssd I've never really thought about it tbh. We usually plan to get out fairly early so we can get back & be done 🤷‍♀️ Dd2's having none of it this morning anyway & is still snoring so I'll do a few small things that don't matter if they get put down half way through.

First up, though, hang washing to dry & sort my mop properly since she's not up.

Morning @lucysmam and all!

Beautiful winter sun here today but it's freezing!

Have been up for a couple of hours with toddler we are under the duvet on the couch, I'm on my second lot of tea and toast. Rest of the house just starting to stir!

The usual uniform wash this morning. Might try and get DC to make a start on homework. I need to parcel up some items ive sold on vinted and can get them posted today.

Swimming this afternoon (fun swim not lessons).

Not sure what's for dinner I forgot to lift something out overnight. Possibly something with bacon and spaghetti, maybe carbonara for dc and then DH and I have this chilli pesto we want to try I think that will go well with bacon and spaghetti maybe? And garlic bread of course.

Wine and TV with DH when children asleep later.

ssd · 21/01/2023 10:43

@lulucysmam , i think i find it weird as mine literally never slept in for years and years so the thought of waking them up when they eventually did sleep was just alien to me. Anyway enjoy your day Smile

lucysmam · 21/01/2023 10:44

@Decafflatteplease was selling on Vinted easy? I have a small pile of items I'm considering listing for a while.

And i mean years literally, i never once set the timer for school until ds1 started secondary school, he woke before 7 right up to his teenage years Shock

It's amazing! I was so nervous but the app literally walks you through it, I made £100 in a month just selling bits of clothes the DC had grown out of. Download the app then take a few pics, put a description, it gives you a suggested price but you set your own price, choose which post options you want to offer eg Evri, yodel then it goes live. The buyer pays postage and you get a label to print and stick on. Some couriers do QR codes or something but I only use Evri and print at home. There's a good forum on there too for any questions.

Have you already bought on there?
