Extreme Sore lips!

QueenMabs · 20/01/2023 19:26

Tried all the balms and so on and they were fine yesterday but today they are on fire.

They are dry and sore and the skin around them is too now. Can steroid help? Fucidin? Antifungal?

What can I do to moisture them as nothing work.

Is there a prescription strength lip balm!

I have very dry skin on my face to that is under control at the moment. I use eucerin ato control and hydro cortisone or locoid cream when it's bad . The locoid cream isn't prescribed for my face but it's the only thing that works but I'm Not sure I'm suppose I'm to use it on my face? It's the best thing tho and one dose sorts out my reactive skin (fine to fire overnight too)

Moisturiser rather than balm. Also I'd definitely give the medicated cream a shot personally, as I tend to play fast and loose with these things, but I won't advise someone else to do so...

Binfire · 20/01/2023 19:41

Oh yes the Blistex Intensive cream linked above is the best thing ever.

Sunshineandrainbow · 20/01/2023 19:41

You need blistex relief cream.
It was stopped for a few years and there was a whole thread on here with people in up roar!
Thankfully it is now back.

geminiflanagan · 20/01/2023 19:42

100% that blistex linked above

westendgirl780 · 20/01/2023 19:43

Came on to say medicated blistex too

QueenMabs · 20/01/2023 19:44

Good advice thanks I did feel the balm was more preventative than anything

Aquaphor Lip Repair Ointment .35 fl. oz. Tube, Long lasting Moisture to Soothe Dry Chapped Lips amzn.eu/d/2iCc76q

This stuff is amazing!

Sunshineandrainbow · 20/01/2023 19:48

The blistex Relief cream is medicated and works overnight on me.
This is different to the moisturiser one which I haven't tried.

PottyMouther · 20/01/2023 19:49

So sorry OP I had something similar to this, was hideous! For me it was some kind of reaction to an ingredient in lip balm. Couldn’t figure out what it was, even Vaseline just made it worse. My saving grace was Lansinoh (the nipple cream), even now years later it’s still my go-to lip balm. Boots also do their own version which is slightly cheaper. If that doesn’t help then i recommend asking in Caroline Hirons Skincare Freaks FB group, people in their offer great advice on anything skin related. I really hope that’s helpful and you feel better soon.

ScatteredMama82 · 20/01/2023 19:51

Bepanthen!

Chikapu · 20/01/2023 19:57

PawPaw ointment has saved my lips this winter, I bought the Lacura one from Aldi and it's lovely.

NorthernSoul55 · 20/01/2023 21:11

Old fashioned Nivea in the blue tin. Slather on as often as you can. Also sorts out sore noses from repeated blowing.

Purplepepsi · 20/01/2023 21:13

Lansinoh nipple cream here. It needs to be warmed but it's amazing!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/01/2023 21:16

@Purplepepsi I second this advice! I use a dab or two at bedtime. Also, make sure you are well-hydrated with water.
Have you tried a humidifier in your bedroom as well?

DatasCat · 20/01/2023 21:37

I’m afraid Vaseline in the blue tin is the only thing that works for me. Everything else just seems to have too many ingredients.

Bairnsmum05 · 20/01/2023 22:28

Hyaluronic acid then vaseline. I wasn't expecting much but it really helped. Prior to this , Nuxe lip balm was great.

QueenMabs · 21/01/2023 17:46

Tried to get the bliztex relief cream in the pinky packaging but it was sold out at Superdrug and boots and big Tesco didn't stock it. So I got the cherry scented blistex intensive moisturiser and they are much better thanks all!

Bepanthen!

x 1000,000 this. Best lip mask at night. Just the regular tube not the more expensive lip version. Lasts ages too and I buy it anyway for DS nappy changes. So just squeeze some into a small jar for me. Waxy/petroleum jelly things will make them peel and crack more.

madmumm · 21/01/2023 18:06

O'Keeffe's Lip Repair balm really worked for me. A few weeks ago my lips were so cracked and painful, my usual vaselines or lip balms weren't helping at all. This is lovely, no scent and hardly know it's there. Back to almost soft lips again.
