Looking for some new podcasts for 2023. I really love something a bit scary (not terrifying), funny and some true crime. I love My Favourite Murder, Witch Farm, My Dad Wrote a Porno and I've listened to lots of true crime.

Any new ideas would be great. Thank you

Another true crime podcast addict here! The best ones are where the podcast/podcaster helps crack the case... my favourites are:

The Teacher's Pet (and the follow up, Teacher's Trial)

Up & Vanished season 1 (the Tara Grinstead mystery). It's a long one.

The Lady Vanishes (another long one... if you listen from the beginning, just fast forward when you feel them going down rabbit holes like looking into cults etc... alternatively you can scroll through the list of episodes to find the six new "catch up" episodes)

Serial, season 1 (Adnan Syed)... the original hit investigative podcast by Sarah Koenig (there is also a 2022 update episode for those who missed it). There was a lot more exculpatory evidence that Koenig didn't cover which you can deep dive into in another podcast called Undisclosed)

In the Dark season 2 (Curtis Flowers) which leaves you agog at the American justice system.

Shandee's Story - another one by Hedley Thomas (of Teacher's Pet fame). Starts off as a sad murder story and ends up revealing a major scandal.

I love language and The History of English podcast by Kevin McLoud is absolutely fascinating.

Also enjoying The Rest is History

Place markingbecause I need some new podcasts.

I've recently been enjoying Vulgar History. The lady that presents it is a bit annoying and says "basically" a lot. But the stories are good, and all women based.

Puppylucky · 24/01/2023 07:51

I started listening to 3 Bean Salad following a recommendation on here and it's really funny sometimes - although a bit self indulgent. Also really enjoyed St Elwicks. Both featuring Mike Wozniak who I have a massive crush on!
Also love Adam Buxton and Richard Herring's Leicester Square podcast - he often has really good guests.

lightinthemirrorstormyoutside · 02/03/2023 17:03

I've been listening to Redhanded and really like it - thank you recommendation on here.

Redrum is good and very well researched!

Casefile can be a bit hit and miss.

The true crime enthusiast is good

Love they walk among us!

Kathy Burke has one called Where There's a Will There's a Wake. Different celebs discussing their funeral with her, it's really funny.

Try an NZ podcast - Black Hands. It's about a very famous NZ murder.
