electricmoccasins · 18/01/2023 16:44

I have a little Christmas shop on Etsy selling clay ornaments.

My main side-hustle is selling educational resources on TES.

FeltCarrot · 18/01/2023 16:50

Cross stitch portraits, mainly to family and friends.

PolarBlair · 18/01/2023 16:52

Handmade cloth sanitary pads

ChronicallyMyself · 18/01/2023 16:56

Tshirts on Amazon. Supposedly. No-one has bought any yet.

thanksamillion · 18/01/2023 17:05

My DD makes a decent amount selling 'vintage ' clothing on Deepop and Vinted. She buys from charity shops, takes good photos and makes a massive mark-up.

GinoVino · 18/01/2023 17:07

My 'side hustle' is silversmithing.

Cinnamonandcoal · 18/01/2023 17:13

Art.
Commissions, through word of mouth. Started with friends and family and then started getting strangers who I don't know wanting pieces.

thesugarbumfairy · 18/01/2023 17:18

Handmade bags. They rarely sell to be honest but i have a garage full.

FancyPantsy · 18/01/2023 17:21

Buy and sell perfume on eBay. I’m a perfume geek so it’s a pleasure really!
I make anything from £100-300 pcm, so it’s just ‘a bit extra’ rather than a potential profitable business.

I want a bonsai tree for my office. Where do you sell?

The ones I sell, and what most hobbyists and professionals grow in this country are hardy outdoor trees, and will not survive indoors.

Your best bet would be a ficus of some sort, either ficus ginseng, ficus retusa, or ficus benjamina. They are tropical trees related to the rubber plant, and will happily grow indoors all year round in the same way as houseplants. You can pick them up in many garden centres, and occasionally supermarkets and Ikea.

Vintage china and glassware on Etsy

@InconvenientPeg I have a lot of vintage China which I'm considering selling. Do you find breakages in transit an issue?

BitsAndBaubles · 23/01/2023 20:27

@BCxx yes I work from a workshop at home, I don't find it lonely. I get out to craft fairs and run my own workshops so I get go meet people and it gets me out

glasshole · 23/01/2023 20:35

I started learning stained glass last summer ( august) and am just good enough now where People are interested in commissions etc through friends of friends. I do your boring standard floral stuff but also really unusual "wtf" niche pieces .

islo84 · 24/01/2023 19:42

Become an Amazon Reseller.

I double box everything and use lots of bubble wrap and air cushions and things. Hopefully it's my packing that's good, and I haven't just been lucky, I've only had two breakages in three years (about 300 parcels) and both of those were underpacked (not double boxed).

Metabigot · 26/01/2023 22:09

I buy makeup sets, gift boxes, advent calendars etc split them up and sell on eBay.
Made apx 8k last year.
Also have a free supply of beauty supplies for myself.

BadSkiingMum · 26/01/2023 22:22

@electricmoccasins
I’m on TES too, though a lot of my stuff is up there for free. But it gets 100-200 downloads a month so at least all the work I put into it wasn’t entirely wasted…😂

What do you find sells well on there?

Tethersend01 · 26/01/2023 22:30

Oooh interesting thread! I’ve just completed an aromatherapy course and am hoping to start making/ selling soon, unsure hiw profitable it will be however as the raw materials are really expensive (if you buy good quality). I’ve never ever done anything creative at all so it feels like a scary/ exciting leap into the unknown!

What I would advise is that people need a good reason to part with their cash. Also how will you reach your market.

I pay ebay 15,% of my sales but its worth it as I'm paying them to provide me with a market.

Will you use an established platform such as etsy?

MeganLogan · 26/01/2023 22:40

Digital printables like planners, home school activities etc on Etsy
