I'm really interested. I'm facing needing to get a new job and I'd like to continue working from home. I know there is lots more out there now post-pandemic. So, if you work from home, what do you do? Do you like it?

Work for a market research company. All our staff from flexible interviewers all the way up either work fully remotely now or hybrid but with the option of how often they go in. Due to covid the nature of our recruitment entirely changed and we have staff everywhere now, no point in trying to force the few in who are nearby. I do like going in and working with colleagues though.

Business Change in IT. Work full time from home with very occasional travel abroad. Love working from home after 20+ years of London commuting.

All of my children and I now WFH. I teach online - I'm a qualified teacher, but there are lots of tutor jobs for which you just need a degree.
Three of my adult kids work for a company that used to have call centres, but who now employ most people to WFH. Other one moved to WFH in lockdown and has never gone back. She is an administrator for an IT company.

Marketing director. I go in one day a week to see my team in person as they’re mostly extroverts

Lyricallie · 18/01/2023 22:24

I work for high hazard project management lots of paperwork!

WinterFoxes · 18/01/2023 22:27

I edit books. (You'd never know from my atrocious spelling on here Grin but I'm perfectionist when it matters.) Done it for years. Love love love my job but God it is so lonely and boring not even commuting. After 15 years I'm longing for a bit more variety, I occasionally have in house jobs in an office but mainly it's agency wfh.

MrsJBaptiste · 18/01/2023 22:29

University Admin - WFH with one day in the office each week.

Puffin87 · 18/01/2023 22:49

Fully remote - banking. Went to the office once last year.

I do enjoy it, though sometimes miss the friends I had working in an office. Also sillier things like meal deals, coffees, the view from the office window and seeing the seasons change daily. I was probably a bit less in my head.

I don't miss all the hassle with trains.

StarCourt · 18/01/2023 23:04

Executive Assistant, fully remote.

Crinkle77 · 18/01/2023 23:04

I work in a university library but my role is mainly non student facing can largely be done at home. There are some events that I need to be on site for but that's not often. I wfh twice a week and love it!

@NicolaJT when you say side hustle, could it be a part time role or evening role, flexible hours?

I’ve seen this advertised on FB of all places and often wondered if it would actually work.

NicolaJT · 16/02/2023 16:09

@RosieMolloy it can be whenever, wherever you want. I do mostly evenings as I have a full time job and 2 little ones, but you run your own business so the more you put in the more you get out 😍

I had my best years working in offices I know the commute can be a pain but pre-Coivid was just what you did and thought nothing of. I can't get my head around the desire to never leave the house and thus lose the chance to be with people you'd never normally encounter. It's good for us: its so easy to become narrow. My current job throws me with people of different ages, stages and lifestyles

I do though see advantages about being home for kids /school runs/ no commute = more time. It just makes me feel uneasy, so much remote working

Same. I go in 4 days despite only needing to go in 2 days. Plus I’m the head of dept and want to be visible. I’m over home working

I’m a Project Manager for an NHS arms length body. I worked from home one day a week pre-pandemic anyway but I love doing it full time. We’re fortunate enough to have been able to make our second bedroom into an office as both DH and I work full time from home. He works for the MOD as a spy (not really!!) He’s a portfolio lead if some sort. Not sure, he’s just changed teams. Both NHS and civil service have loads of WFH opportunities.

If you wouldn’t mind and if that’s how it works, would you mind PMing me anything helpful to take a look please
