There appears to be a square of loose plastic or paper inside my coat lining, shall I unpick the stitches to investigate?

I had some overalls once from MIL's garage, late FIL was a bit of a hoarder and also quite paranoid (this is relevant)
Came to do some decorating so retrieved the overalls only to notice a very neatly sewn rectangle across the back of them. Curiosity got the better of me and I sat and unpicked it to reveal the word POLICE in big letters.

Best guess is they were given to FIL by my Uncle In Law who was in the Met at the time and he was worried about getting anyone into trouble so sewed a patch to hide the name.

I quite like my POLICE overalls, though I doubt anyone is going to confuse a short arsed middle aged woman with the Met though 😂

There's something similar in the lining of a hoodie I've got, when I discovered it I did wonder if it was a secret message from a sweat shop worker where the hoodie might have been made 😱
I'm rubbish at sewing so I haven't opened it up to find out as I'd never sew it back up neatly.

I think it's a modern moisture absorber like a new fangled silica gel packet.

This is weird but I found a bangle sewn into a coat sleeve. Freaked us out. I'd worn the coat for months.

Don’t have a story about finding a Note in a Coat, but definitely going to create one.

Next time I donate a jacket to the chazza, I’m sewing a note inside. 👀
