It's quite rigid plastic. Perhaps something that is peeled off during manufacture but it got dropped inside?

Clearly it was mistakenly swapped for the secret message I was meant to receive.. 😂

Well, mystery solved anyway! 😆

I had some overalls once from MIL's garage, late FIL was a bit of a hoarder and also quite paranoid (this is relevant)
Came to do some decorating so retrieved the overalls only to notice a very neatly sewn rectangle across the back of them. Curiosity got the better of me and I sat and unpicked it to reveal the word POLICE in big letters.

Best guess is they were given to FIL by my Uncle In Law who was in the Met at the time and he was worried about getting anyone into trouble so sewed a patch to hide the name.

I quite like my POLICE overalls, though I doubt anyone is going to confuse a short arsed middle aged woman with the Met though 😂

No buttons, it's a zip front coat. The imprint is a circle with 3 raindrops. I suppose it's some kind of comment on rainproofing (although it's not remotely waterproof as I found out recently).
