Feel hurt and used

A few months ago a friend was struggling and needed some bits for her baby that was due . I’m not well off but asked her what she needed and got her some things, not the best brands but new.

She was really grateful and told me on a few occasions she was using the bits. She then seemed to not respond as much if I messaged and she didn’t call often I thought maybe she was busy but I didn’t want to pressure her and keep on

Anyway I’ve just seen she’s selling everything I got her. New, unused, tags on. So she didn’t need it and lied saying she had used it I feel so hurt and stupid

Ask her what's going on ?

Ask her what's going on ?

I should but I hate confrontation I’ll probably just sulk today and feel sorry for myself then not bother helping anyone out again . I think I just needed to vent 😞

Stand up for yourself and ask her what the fuck this is all about. Cheeky fuckers needs to be kept in check.

If it was used I’d have thought oh she needs the money but at least got use out of it but this is literally as it was the day I got it and dropped it off and it’s the exact items all of them

WeAreTheHeroes · 16/01/2023 15:42

Ask for them back.

Georgeskitchen · 16/01/2023 15:51

I would be round there demanding the cheeky b*tch to hand the goods back

OriginalUsername2 · 16/01/2023 15:56

Don’t be a sap, confront her! Take a friend with you and go and get your stuff. Or at least call out her posts if they’re on FB.

Hurtaboutit · 16/01/2023 15:57

I’m sort of feeling that in general I was used as the friendship was more intense (initiated by her) when she was going into her third trimester and needed lifts/her dc walked home (which was fine as I walk past her house and mine are at the same school) and then these bits but she totally cooled off suddenly

Wheres she selling them?

If it was fb marketplace or gumtree ect I'd offer to buy them from an email she doesn't know, then show up to collect them. Then be like- seen as you don't need them, I'll take take them back!

Cheeky fucker that she is.

I'd also film it all and put it on YouTube and then post it to all her social media.

Justcallmebebes · 16/01/2023 15:59

That's awful

gamerchick · 16/01/2023 16:01

And yet there's another thread running with the majority of responses saying you have no control over a gift when you give it and people have the right to sell them.

Make your mind up.

This is why I feel unsure what to do as yes it was a gift. But then I feel like she said she was desperate for specific items - said she was using them but is now selling them totally brand new. They can’t all be duplicates even so I feel really taken advantage of. The only thing not being sold was the formula.
Id got a baby bath, Moses basket and stand, newborn and 0-3 vests and all in ones , a snowsuit, blanket, formula dummies and a bottle set

I think your situation is different from the other thread, OP, because on the other thread the gifted items were hand me downs that were not needed by the original owner. I think you should speak to your 'friend' about how you don't have the money to buy things for her that she only wants to sell on and that you feel taken advantage of.

Pinkbonbon · 16/01/2023 16:11

Shes a con artist. Who knows how many other people she has scammed. Don't waste time talking to her. Either let it go or expose her behaviour to the world.

Can't you see the difference? This is in no way right. The OP has been conned into handing over new items thinking her friend was on hard times and needed them for her baby but "friend" is selling them unused. That's bordering on fraud

Tamarindtree · 16/01/2023 16:13

Lure her round and say you have bought her a top of the range pram as you had a small win on the lottery.

When she gets there tell her that you’ve just seen in the last five minutes that she is selling everything else and she can’t have the pram and to never contact you again.

Slam door.

Blendy · 16/01/2023 16:14

people treat you how you let them 🤷🏾‍♀️

I think she may be in contact anyway as just before Christmas she did as needed help with school runs due to the very cold weather I’ve just seen it’s going to be around -6 this week in the mornings so I’m fully expecting she will decide to contact me again and I’m going to say no if she does

They fully know the difference but this particular poster loves to play the devils arsehole... i mean advocate.

Tamarindtree · 16/01/2023 16:20

I would text her - ‘Why are you selling all the things you said you needed and I went out and bought for you?

BeginningToLookALotLike · 16/01/2023 16:23

When (not if) she asks you for lifts, you could always tell her that you have spent so much money this month that you are completely broke and can't afford petrol. Did she ever offer you petrol money OP?

prettyrainbows · 16/01/2023 16:27

That's awful.
There are a lot of users in life, but also lots of good people.
I'd definitely ask her, gently. Say you were a bit hurts - were the items not what she wanted?
I would have to call her out.
Don't let this experience stop YOU from being a good kind person.

Cherrysoup · 16/01/2023 16:29

That’s a lot of stuff. I’d ask for it back.
