I can recommend Designated Survivor too with Kiefer Sutherland in the role of a lowly cabinet minister taking over the role of Potus after a devastating attack takes out most of the senior congressmen. It's very similar to West Wing showing the day to day workings of the White House but with a thriller/conspiracy story arc in the background.
