Is Harry Potter lego OK for adults?

I want to buy my geeky, Harry Potter-loving son some Lego for his birthday. He's 30 and he loves making things.

Is HP Lego too childish?

If you've bought it for an adult, which one did you buy? I can afford the £120 price range but not the one that's £500!

My parent's neighbour is in her 70s and loves lego. Really helps her mental health.

Go for it. If a set is £500, do you really think it is aimed at kids to start with?

My bestie’s DH loved the HP Lego!

It can be quite challenging and I find when I do my sons lego it's quite therapeutic a bit like 'adult colouring books'

This , nobody is buying an 8 year old £500 lego set

I've bought myself HP Lego sets, go for it!

Curse you @ICanHideButICantRun.

Writing my reply made me think of the Hogwarts Castle set. And then to think that if I put this Lego set here and that Lego set there and removed this shelf and hid some wiring stuff in the cupboard I could fit it in the resulting space.

And it's showing as 'hard to find' on the Lego site. So I will have to buy it sooner rather than later. IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!

Never too old for Lego especially if it's Harry Potter

I think what I want is something that's not too easy to make. It's hard to tell from looking on Amazon.

Have a look on the Lego website for ideas then shop around price wise. Some people also do YouTube videos of various sets aswell.

Assuming you think he's old enough not to choke on the pieces, then lego is a good plan - it's good for everyone!

LlynTegid · 14/01/2023 09:52

Yes, but perhaps ask him first?

Littlepaws18 · 14/01/2023 09:57

Of course it is!!! I live in a Lego mad household, we all including my husband have Lego sets! The Harry Potter train was recently on sale and that is a good kit to start with!

I'm a 51 yo lady and I love Harry Potter Lego, it lines my hallway on bookcases Grin

Actually I've come pretty close. He's 11 now but has been doing age 18+ Lego sets since about the age of 7... Was the only thing he'd play with apart from his iPad!

Sorry dont know specific ones but a colleague is 42 and she has bought/made up lots of the HP lego and proudly displays it.

I could be your colleague 😂

CafeCremeMerci · 14/01/2023 19:47

@KenAdams that's a lovely set!!

but it's £260, she's ever going to find it in budget!

@ICanHideButICantRun I want a house with a huge attic room just for me! An additional income stream I'm able/happy to spend on Lego. I'm 54.

unfortunately the challenging builds are £££££. That's not to say the smaller builds aren't fun!! I'd be delighted if Mum bought me lego!
