January charity shop bargains

I think everyone's had their post-Christmas clear-out as there was SO much new stock in my local charity shop this morning, spied Levi's, Jones the Bootmaker heels, Hobbs skirts etc. (Alas not my size.)

Just walked out with a Weird Fish zip up hoody. Immaculate condition. £2. Perfect for dog walking!

Anyone else found any good bargains so far this month?

after trying to try it on (no changing room in the charity shop I bought it from) I returned it.

My local cancer research say they accept returns but I'd feel like a total cheapskate if I did this! Did you consider selling on ebay instead to recoup your money?

For once I got a bargain, two Laura Ashley brand new lampshades for £1.50 the pair and a diamante necklace for £1.75. I struck gold for once.

Last week 2 pairs of unworn M&S jeans, one denim and the other pair Per Una dark Cherry red velvet cord. Both pairs £4.

Niftythrifter · 30/01/2023 16:48

@roses2 I am not going to keep something that doesn’t fit.

Grumpy Old Man coaster for DH - £1.50
Padded laptop sleeve - £2.00
George cropped leggings (unworn) which will be ok for Zumba - £1.50
Boss silk shirt - £4.50

The shirt was a bit tight so I took it back and swapped it for an oversized hoody which will be fine with jeans and jeggings.

This afternoon popped into my local charity shop on my way home and found a pure cashmere jumper in excellent condition from Cashmere and Cotton. Cost £8.50. Bargain!

cravingtoblerone · 31/01/2023 15:32

@Beebumble2 jealous!! What colour is the jumper?

Beebumble2 · 31/01/2023 15:53

It’s grey V neck, long sleeves. I’ve just washed it and it’s still ok!

User1437957 · 31/01/2023 15:55

I bought 4 scarves and two mini BODEN shirts, two BODEN Breton tops and a child’s suit brand new for 10£. The charity shop was having a half price sale 😀 so chuffed .

User1437957 · 31/01/2023 15:56

@Beebumble2 wow that’s amazing . Well done you

A Gant sweater for £10 and some NYDJ jeans for £5. Great!

cravingtoblerone · 03/02/2023 12:18

Not technically a January bargain but I bought a beautiful leather colour-block handbag for £2 yesterday. 😀

charabang · 03/02/2023 12:29

I bought a faded kingsize candlewick bedspread for a quid, dyed it sage green and it is so beautiful.

Cam22 · 03/02/2023 12:50

Charity shop prices in Edinburgh are WAY higher than those mentioned here, annoyingly.

Marmite27 · 03/02/2023 12:52

I got some horrible history’s and horrible science books and two systema split snack tubs. £6.80 all in!

No hard back copy of the Goblet of Fire and the only house of puzzles jigsaw I could find was one I have, still sealed in the packet. Return window closed yesterday or I’d have had it.

wellpaddedintherear · 03/02/2023 12:56

i loved it until dp pointed out that Marlene from only fools and horses had the same one
a dark purple dress coat-£4 and a lovely deep green scarf for five quid

Niftythrifter · 04/02/2023 14:27

White label White Company 95%cashmere gloves brand new for £3

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 04/02/2023 14:29

North face coat. £7.50

GettingStuffed · 04/02/2023 14:32

Our local charity shops are brand sensitive. I nearly bought a higher end high street jumpsuit on sale for £9.99 but I wasn't sure if it was suitable for a funeral.

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 04/02/2023 15:09

Just bought a Phase Eight dress £20. Am planning to wear it for my daughter’s wedding. Was in Phase Eight yesterday trying on dresses that were £170. So feeling really pleased!

Pretty sure it should be compulsory to have photos on this thread ...

I'm planning a charity shop weekend next week while the teens are busy Smile

Tommy Hilfiger chinos and a Gap shirt for DS to look tidy for DM's 80th birthday tea party. Joules dress for DD for the same.

Tommy Hilfiger chinos and a Gap shirt for DS to look tidy for DM's 80th birthday tea party. Joules dress for DD for the same.

£15 between them. DS's stuff was adult size. Not super cheap, but cheap enough to be delighted!

Beebumble2 · 04/02/2023 15:34

Bought a Hobbs cashmere and silk jumper £5.50. I’m giving it to a friend who’s cold, after being shafted into poverty by her ex.husband.

Niftythrifter · 04/02/2023 18:14
